Perhaps, but not if one of the Dakota schools gets knocked off. I don't know what you are talking about, but I point out several things. Cats lost at home last year in the playoffs. One and done. Winning on road is harder as the playoffs go on, but not impossible. Again, UM beat no. 1 JMU at JMU in 2008, I believe, in the semis.
For both teams, winning is the most important thing at this point. I don't care about ranking or seeding. I just want to keep winning the games. Then, everything will sort itself out.
And the beautiful thing is all the teams at the top of the standings play each other this year, unlike some past years. So it WILL sort itself out, just like God intended.
Ahh, now I know why some of you aren't getting this. One of them getting knocked off isn't going to get you a #2 seed. That's been my point all along in that even if the griz win out, they'll need a LOT of help, meaning that both NDSU AND SDSU will each have to lose another game, AND you would also still likely need help from the committee.
And no, it's not impossible to win on the road. Cats thumped #1 SHSU. But, it is damn near impossible to beat one of those two teams in their house in the playoffs.
What? If the Griz win out, yes we’ll need help, but the only team that has a walk the last three games is Idaho and we’re already ahead of them. IF we win out we’ll have beaten 2 of the 6 teams ahead of us. The other 4 ALL have at least one (in some cases two) difficult game left.
Is it likely? No. But ONE of them getting knocked off is even MORE likely than both. So yeah, there’s a punchers chance.
But, we gotta take care of business.
I would absolutely love it if SDSU and NDSU each lost a game here at the end, but I don't think that's happening. In fact, I don't think either of them lose again until the semis. I hope I'm wrong. Hell, if they do both lose then that would open the door for the Cats to still get a #2 seed even if we lose one of the last 2.
If cats lose to Griz they will not get a #2 seed, with NDSU and SDSU losing a game Cats would be #1 on last weekend. A loss that late in the season is never good for seeding.
The Davis game really IS the bellweather. We take care of business there we're likely 9-3 at worst, which is easily top 8 seed. We lose to Davis we would HAVE to beat PSU and the 'Scats to get a top 8 seed...When we get by davis watch out! I’m really happy to see the cat/davis game is at night. Hope it goes into overdrive and the plane delays.
Probably true, but then again in my scenario it would mean that SDSU and NDSU also both lost games late? So then Cats are 11-1 with only loss to likely top 5 griz... no idea how they would seed everything. Probably would also depend on USD and SEMO.
