again perplexing calls, interp of rules, and some lack of game control...

these new officials are an 'interesting bunch'....so say the least,

is some intramural league missing refs??

Should have been a 5 second call on Weber right before the last play. They had no right to be huddled up, trying to draw up a play.

I get upset when they miss easy travels calls. I really do urge BSC officials to let the teams play physical, like they did for Montana/Weber State. That is the kind of game BSC teams will see in the NCAA tournament. It needs to be that way during the season too.

Yep. Should have put the ball down on the ground and started swinging the arm. That was more like a 25 second call than a 5 second call.

Really, that (and as Rule points out) the missed travels, are really, really basic stuff. I expect them to miss some charge/block calls, or the occasional goal-tend or shit like that. But basic rule stuff is inexcusable.

That extra time out was total crap! I stood there not believing the complete confusion by the refs.

Completely agree with all comments. Horrible that the refs let Weber have an unofficial timeout on the last play. Let them go to their bench on the opposite end of the court. That particular tall bald ref is a dummy. Have noticed him in prior games.

The obvious traveling calls, not called, were horrible. The ref that missed those calls, was the guy who called Ward for a travel on the dunk late in the game. The missed travel calls were right in front of him. He couldn't have been looking when he missed them. No ref (and no fan) is that stupid.

The travel call on ward was a good call. He caught the ball near the three point line and took three steps before leaving the ground. Lack of travel calls at other points in the game was questionable however. The stoppage at the end was ridiculous. If Rahe motioned for a timeout he should have been given a technical because I believe they were out of timeouts at that point but if not the ref certainly should have started (and ended) the five second count.

No, it wasn't a good call. Even in college, that isn't called. He didn't take 3 steps. And given the lack of obvious traveling calls by the same ref on Weber, the call was even worse. Learn more about the game before you make posts like this, ie that it was a good call.

Also this isn't too big of a deal, but I don't think Rahe was ever in the Coach's box when we were on that end for offense in the first half.
I even asked one of the refs if he was a player during a timeout...

I was watching the game online and the announcers had stated that both teams were out of time outs. So allowing them that time was absolutely wrong.

Are the referees supposed to leave the floor immediately at the buzzer? It seems they were no where to be seen when the action began.

It looked to me like Ward traveled, but if they were going to call that, they sure as hell needed to call the other 9 offenses by Weber, most of them took 2 more steps than Ward. Otherwise let Ward's go too.

Officials leave the floor almost immediately. Once the game hits 00:00 the game management is left school officials. They handle all the game administration, but don't do any post game stuff.

I checked the replay & believe Ward travelled (he caught the pass from WC while his left leg was extended on the first of three steps in a "continuation of play" toward the bucket... close). But I agree with unwrittengriz: there were at least six no-calls on obvious traveling offenses by Wildcat guards who moved a pivot foot at the beginning of a drive. Ward's travel -- after catching a pass on a drive to the hoop -- if often no longer called by refs... part of a "continuation of play," interp.

All comments about the way the traveling was handled are relavant, and I do think they let Weber get away with it way more often than Montana, referencing at least two questionable calls against Jamar in the paint. But I just want to point out that Ward had plenty of time and room to dribble the ball at least once before launching himself, so to an official, it probably looked like Ward had deliberately traveled, and that's probably why the ref didn't give him the extra step.

I agree, i had no problem with the call on matty dub....but thats about where it stops! there were alot of non calls on weebs, but we gotaway with the win! That bullshit at the end of the game where they let weebs huddle up and didnt start the 5 second count was TOTAL bs

Technical traveling happens, but is not called, at least a dozen times a game in college ball. The question is whether it should be called, or should have been called, on a particular play. My gripe is the ref not calling obvious travels against Weber, made this call. It didn't result in advantage to the player. Had the play been made in traffic and not in the open, it probably wouldn't have been called. On the other hand, there were many worse calls in the game than this one.
