In the past 48 hours, by shear coincidence, I have talked to one of Daum's parents, his high school coach, Arie Grey and his high school QBs (Cook's) mom. You know what I asked them about Dalton's decision to leave the team? Exactly squat. You know why? It's none of my business. Leave it alone. Lock the thread.
One reason I always take the Players side until proven otherwise is the fact that Coaches often enough look past the individual circumstances of the players; you give the players lots of room in situations like this but this thread, like many, brings out the haters -- lazy, coddled, etc. -- disgusting conclusions.

Daum left, I suspect I know exactly why because the symptoms are obvious enough and I've dealt with them plenty over the years as a biochemist with an interest in the body chemistry involved, and on the practical side as coach and instructor. They also deserve their privacy, which four nitwits have pretty much destroyed with their jumping up and down, "I Know! I Know!" and extensive hinting and signalling at just how much they know.
Given your vast level of knowledge across the entire education spectrum, I'm sure you DO know exactly why. I mean, really:

Biochemist
Coach
Instructor
CFO

Is there anything you HAVEN'T done?

had "just one" Lays potato chip might be about it

WOW, of the several people who gave me some brief information, only 1 mentioned anything about coaches. The others all provided information not involving coaches. 2 of which are very close to the team or part of the team. The others with some good contacts w/in the team, school, athletic department.

By the looks of this thread, until something more official comes out, it is useless trying to tame the lions who are negative on the coaches. Speaking of coaches, keep it in mind, it is common to for new head coaches to take a few years to clean house and challenge the players more so than when they have all their own recruits in the program.

In my opinion, those who are blaming and/or going after the coaches, are making this coaching transition phase much bigger than it is. I feel a lot of information is being a little to a lot over exaggerated.

I have heard from enough people the last 2 days to put my mind at ease, that the main issue is not coaching related. Regardless of where Dalton ends up at, he has some things he needs to take care of personally 1st. Fortunately, what he is dealing with is adjustments some people struggle with more than others. He and the GRIZ coaches will be just fine all is said and done.

As interesting as 75s single case of an atheletes depression may be.....it is dwarfed in comparrison to his life accolades. He has been:

Councelor, Coach, Psychiatrist, Chemist, 19 yr olds best friend/mentor, Grammy Award Winner, Nobel Winner, 1988 Oscar winner for his role in Rain Man, and most recently and perhaps most prestigious, Lifetime Achievment Award for his scientific journalism on egriz!

In all seriousness, I thought your story was interesting, but I cant stand the way you love to hear yourself talk. Maybe, just maybe if you live another 150 years you can eclipse the lifetime achievments of the one PlayaRep!

Regarding your second paragraph, none of the UM coaching changes in the past 15 or so years have resulted in this much turnover, and the turnover probably won't end until after spring ball. Everyone knows that there is turnover with coaching changes. Most of the upper classmen disliked or hated Hauck during the transition, but not nearly this many players departed. The issue, or potential issue, is the amount of it, and the cause of it.

One could argue we also didn't have as many soft, complacent players when Hauck took over as we had when Delaney left.

Spot on Alpha, which is exactly why I said he is starting to see the error of his ways on this one and is backpedaling now.
Actually, I was the first one to say it. There has to be more to the story than merely having problems with a coach. What bound up your panties was your claim that football had "nothing to do with it" followed by Daum's public statement that it did, or as you nobly accused Daum, he was uttering "only half the truth." Or are you backpedalling from that?

Nope not at all, in fact some of what he said was very true
