I can't. It makes zero sense.
We played more of classic 4-3 last year, with good OLB's in Buss and Banks, Strahm was more of a traditional MLB type. Two of those guys were seniors and I think all were better than average. We did use Dante quite often as a stand-up right over center in our blitz/long yardage packages. But yeah, obviously the kid can play a little bit.
Banks started last season like he was all conference. By mid-season he’d regressed to the mean. Quick clarification - In statistics, regression toward the mean is the phenomenon that if a variable is extreme on its first measurement, it will tend to be closer to the average on its second measurement—and if it is extreme on its second measurement, it will tend to have been closer to the average on its first. (Thanks for indulging me - I know stats are different in Canada). If memory serves - Cochran backed him up. 45 backed up 10 when 10 wasn’t suspended, or started when he was.
For those of you playing @ home, it means Olson was likely backing Buss most of the time. Let me remind everyone that Buss was one of the highlights of last season on defense & the only FCS kid I can recall ever being on a pre-season watchkist for an FBS award (this season). Buss was going to be on the field regardless.
Statistics clearly point to the fact that this is all Stitt & Semore’s fault in that somehow they couldn’t or wouldn’t recognize Olson’s potential. & Olson’s data range is so far off the charts that if you hadn’t seen it with your own eyes - you wouldn’t believe it. Runaway Buchanan winner.
