DAMN PSU and............... ?

We gout out-rebounded, especially early on when we seemed flat and we didn't make free-throws down the stretch. That is why we lost.

The only thing I will say about the refs outside of obviously they didn't help us out too much last night is this. On a three man crew, the calls should be close to evenly distributed. It seemed that the balled guy had way too many call compared to the other two and he really was a part of the game when an official should be an accessory.

The refs made a couple bad calls, but the bottom line is the Griz were out worked the frist 30 minutes of the game and dug a hole they couldn't get out of. Of course the timing of that last call is huge, I just don't think they would have had to think about hat right now had they come as hungry as PSU was. That is on the Coach and the players.

This seems to be the main defense of the Griz last night. The thing is, they dug themselves out of the whole. They went up on that Stu mayes three. I mean they could've played well and been neck and neck and we would've been in the same spot. EVERYTHING was falling for the vikings in the first half so even if the intensity was there, best case scenario was about a tie going down the stretch, which is not far off where we were. The calls just seemed to kill us. Refs just can't take the game into their hands like that.

Meant to see it seems to be the main defense of the officiating.

A good, experienced team with a good, experienced coach can often find its way out of first half holes -- case in point, Gonzaga vs. Stanford Wednesday night. I think both the Griz and their coach have shown their inexperience on more than one occasion this season. I'm not saying we should could them out at this point, but I also believe their is little reason to depend on them either. We had planned to go to last night's game but ended up not doing so. I'm glad we didn't waste our money.

So not meaning add fuel to the fire but I was just talking with someone who used to officiate some bball across the state and he's pretty sure "the bald guy" ref is a dude from Portland.

Not saying he threw the game for PSU, the viks get credit for the win, but just a funny/interesting side note for sure.

Which official was the bald guy? Officials: Michael Irving, Randy Burkhart, Mark Cook

I really want to know if there are any repercussions. Can U of M or Tinks file some sort of complaint (I know it will not change the outcome)? How would this be done and how long would it take to find out the result? If I were coaching that game I would rate this crew as "F", especially "BALDY". Anyone know if anything was filed against this joke of an official?

Also the poster that commented about too many whistles being blown in many BSC games was right on the money. After witnessing last year's Boston College game live, it was obvious that officials at the "Major" level blow the whistle a lot less. BSC teams are too accustomed to "whistle blowing". Players expect calls they are accustomed to, when they do not get the whistle it effects their play. Players slow down play waiting for whistle and when it does not happen, it is like "where is the whistle?"

BSC officials should be a little more lenient, with the exception of games set up like the 1st ISU/MT game this year. Those officials had to call a tight game from the get go as a result of last year's game.

Please let me hear in time that the bald official gets suspended. Hard to imagine that badly of an officiated game just pass by the conference heads. Then again, would not surprise me.

MtGrz,

The BSC Supervisor of officials is supposed to review each game regardless of complaints. They then grade each officials performance on rules, mechanics, etc. I am pretty sure their is a grievance process, however it would not affect the outcome of the game. As you probably know, judgement calls, which the last call was, are not reviewable anyway.

I agree the officiating was sub standard, however I maintained the entire game and still do that it should never have been the case if the Griz had been ready to play as PSU was. That is the Coach and players fault, mostly the players. It still bothers me that a team that worked it's tail off the previous week to get the only road sweep comes home, then lays an egg for effort the first 30 minutes. :drinking:

altho, I hate a loss,,especially at home and to PSU,,,because of living in the Portland area,,,and PSU fans are horrible and beating Montana means a lot to them ,,and I'll hear about it for awhile...I would think that this loss should help the players understand what happens when you are not ready mentally to open a ball game. After an impressive, gutty, comeback,,,that did show some heart, and some ugly stripes' calls, they just didn't have enough and I was disappointed and pissed,,,but after reflecting later..the team just may learn more from the defeat,,,had they won they may have thought they can be flat & unaggressive in the first half and still pull it out,,,they almost did...as the season is winding down and the tourney is really all that matters,,,,now they should understand ...start the damn game the same way you finish it,,,if you are not into it then the coaches must make changes quick and (I thought they responded ok with this)..even if the shots are not falling at least play some D and get to the glass...move on ,,learn and don't repeat starting a ballgame in a half assed nap! Go Griz really need next three games ....

Griz lose and its the ref's fault?

If you would have read everything, you wouldn't ask the question. The Griz lost because of first half play period. The Refs were bad for both sides. Bad for The Griz and the rest of the Big Sky. Everyone deserves better.

They made up the first half deficit, which was caused as much by everything falling for PSU as it was for Griz's poor play.

I am not afraid to say it, yes, Tinkle's Griz are underperforming their talent level. 11-11 is pathetic for this team. They losing to teams that they should beat. The Griz had as much returning this season as any other conference team, yet they lose too many.

The buck has to stop at the top.

Lets hear the school you coached at and the collegiae conference you officiated at. I can hardly wait to expose the fraud you are. You won't do it because we both know it never happened. God you are something else when you drink. :loser:
