D.J Reinhardt - Volunteering to Help Refugees in Greece

Former Sentinel standout and Lady Griz, D.J. Reinhardt, is looking for a bit more funding, and has a GoFundMe site--to finance her travel to Greece to work with a non-profit that helps refugees landing by boat on the shores of Greece. Many of the refugees are from Syria. When I last talked to her, the plan was to camp near the beach and help refugees as they came ashore. I gave her some help and said I'd see if I could find anyone else who might want to help her. She's a great and adventuresome kid, and this seems like a nice cause. Recall that DJ's mom died of cancer when DJ was in high school. Here's a link to the GoFundMe site. Any little bit would help. She departs next week.

Note in the site that it describes her good Syrian friend, and note that DJ ended up playing some professional basketball on her prior trip to Europe. Apparently, some people played with her or saw her playing pickup ball, and one thing led to another.

Thanks. By the way, I didn't tell her that I was going to put this on egriz (I just did it), but will let her know now.

Check out the rescue photos in the link. One job is to stand near some bad rocks where landing is treacherous, and direct boats away from the rocks.

"Our volunteers stay in our team house and are asked to camp out at isolated beaches within our zone at least 5 nights a week."
