D backs

Can someone explain to me why a guy hitting .237 with an on base of .297 and 37 homeruns is leading off and not hitting 5th for the DBacks. I really don't care how fast he is, since he'll still be fast hitting 5th. Is it any wonder this team didn't score any runs. Now I havn't watched or paid attention to the D backs all year so there may be a good explaination.

No clue. .297 OBS is not so great. But, some teams do like the chance of starting off with a homer.

It's very rare that one gets the best of both worlds. In fact, I DESPISE the home run as a general part of strategy. That's why Bruce Bochy loses so much. Get a single and sit on your @$$ waiting for the jack? I don't think so. Besides, most homers nowadays are worthless solo jobs. They don't do diddley squat unless it's the psychological effect of a back-to-back jack session. Give me Billy Ball any day of the week. And, yes, sign Rickey Henderson. He'll get on, pick your pocket two or three times in a row (yes, he HAS stolen home quite a bit), and even get the rare lead-off jack on occasion.

Baseball as a game would be MUCH better off if stinking Bochy Ball were banished forever.

Yeah, you're right. I would despise having Prince Fielder or David Ortiz. Home runs are despicable.
