Criswell menitoned in Rivals column

Kevin is simply one of the greatest GRIZ BB players ever. While the GRIZ return, and are bringing in a ton of talent, the leadership and resourcefulness of Kevin and Virgil will be very hard to replace. Incidentally, while attending the U of M graduation ceremonies 10 days ago, I noticed Virgil sitting with the other grads waiting to receive his diploma. His roommate, Stuart Mayes, was one of the spectators. I think Stuart may have been sitting with some of Virgil's family. Congratulations Virgil!

criswell was indeed a good ball player.

alas, i never got the chance to "watch his family" during games (nor mathews'), as i was too focused on what was happening on the court.

Criswell and Mathews both have great familes. I really enjoyed meeting them, watching them, and occasionally sitting by them at games. Kevin's brother Tony is a great guy, with great eyes, according to the girls in my family.

Kevin is also very smart...he did well in the physics class i had with him. one would never guess it..but Dr Uchimoto is a sports fan.

I will definitely miss watching Kevin. When he got into a zone, he could be unbelievable. I would bet on his success in life.

Argh, you may not be getting the entire basketball experience if you are only focusing on the court. Personally I have always loved visiting with relatives of the players. I'm just not in the position to do so very often.

oh man, in poky, one definately gets "the full experience" during a game. for example, during the griz game last fall i thought the 80 year old grandma next to me was going to go down on the court and take a swipe at a griz player or two.

that game had to be about the ugliest experience in sports that i've ever witnessed, from the cheapshots on the court by slim to the violent vibes in the stands. them spuds do not like the griz.

as for the player's parents, i've always tried to respect the space of the ones i've known, and let them enjoy the games in peace. i suppose not all parents are a combination of worried for their kid's health/worried for their kid's psyche and worried about the outcome to the point of being stressed-out during the game, but my experience is that is how a lot of them watch the action. who wants to be ogled by program groupies when you've got all those emotions going on?
