Could this happen @ U of M?

This is from yahoo news:

"The support for firing Bobby Petrino continues to roll in and now it's taken monetary form.

On Wednesday, the Donald W. Reynolds foundation announced it was donating $1 million to help the school build its Student-Athlete Success Center. The gift was made in reaction to athletic director Jeff Long's decision to fire Petrino after he failed to disclose an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate employee whom he hired.

The foundation's chairman, Fred W. Smith, made a personal donation of $250,000 to the center and wanted to name the student-athlete development program the Jeff Long Student-Athlete Development Program.

Long was lauded for his handling of the Petrino situation and the leadership he demonstrated during last week's emotional press conference. Many believed Long's decision would not be popular, but Long has actually received a lot of support and this donation is just further proof of that."

This will never happen here. Too many bandwagon fans who care only about winning at all costs, and live with a sense of entitlement that has swept the nation under our divisive president (I was going to use the word "leader", but that would be a folly). These fans DEMAND answers to why their cozy little bubble was burst by a university president who became weary of defending our athletic program, and who understood the negative effect it had on the growth and overall prosperity of his school. Parents were openly questioning whether their daughters would be safe attending UM with the current environment.

And so, whining continues. The threats of stopping donations continue. The classlessness of so-called fans continues.

Growler, maybe you and blackfoot griz could roast marshmallows around the campfire tonight and shave each others scrotums to 'celebrate' the decimation of two good people's lives......

hawaiian....I see all sides of this serious issue, however, O'Day and Pflugrad were in charge and couldn't bring control to the scandal and drain the cesspool. Thus, they were nominated to walk the plank and won't be the last.

I think you are right on this. The question is, who, and when?

true, and two sexual assaults since they were fired. How could this be??????? I thought Engstrom rid the U of the poison?

Yo Growler, If the Griz football team is dirty as you say, please tell me who the bad guys are? If my sister is in danger of rape it would help knowing just who the hell is after her. She is ugly so perhaps that has saved her up until now.

If Pflugrad and O'Day were guilty of rape, can we all relax now that they are gone?

Is the Saudi student the real reason for the firing? Was the fact his father made a large donation to the U of M a factor? Or was he a water boy for the football team.

Further, how do you know our football team is/was "dirty"? Are you an insider?

Let us all read the names of the "dirty" players. We then will be allowed to de-nut the guilty.

Names please.

Growler: why don't you donate 250K to the Royce Engstrom student rape crisis center if that's what good fans do?

Only you could associate Pflugrad's and O'Day's level of guilt with Petrino's.

Hawaiiangriz,
That was a pasted story from yahoo news. The only words that were mine are in the subject. With a lot of the talk about donors keeping their wallets closed, I was just curious if some new wallets might be opening up from those that may support the firings.

I certainly have not "celebrated" the firings...
