Carroll College Saints NAIA National Champions!! For the sixth time in 10 years!!!
Carroll beat a Univ. of Sioux Falls teams littered with drop down FBS and FCS players who hadn’t lost since Carroll beat them in 2007. Carroll may have been out manned, but they were not out coached! Great job by Coach Mike Van Diest and his staff!
By the way did you notice how Carroll players hug the ball with both hands when they are being tackled?
This is just a little thing that Coach Van Diest imparts to his players to reduce risk of turnovers. It won’t eliminate turnovers, but it reduces risk of turnovers. Van Diest understands the significance of turnovers to the outcome of football games, and teaches his players to reduce turnovers. A good coach pays attention to such details. Pflu are you listening?
Do you also notice how if a player screws up, Van Diest pulls him out and talks to him personally about the mistake that was made so the player can learn from the mistake, and the head coach talking to him emphasizes the need to avoid repetition of mistakes. Hauck used to do that as well. I rarely saw Pflugrad do this to reduce reoccurrence of mistakes. Pflu expects assistants to do that, but doesn’t understand the need for the head coach to get involved for emphasis purposes—i.e., to make an impression. Pflu has much to learn about being a head coach.
I wish Pflu would watch and observe Van Diest. Pflu could learn a lot. Too bad dopey UM administration did not hire Van Diest. If they had Griz would be in Frisco instead of EWU.
P.S. It was so nice to watch football on a green field. I do not want to watch football on red fields.
