Congrats to Stanford's Josalyn Tinkle

I know she hasn't been getting as many minutes down the stretch but she came up big in the first half scoring a quick 8 points showing mid range jumper, nice 3 point shot and spin move to give Stanford a boost when they really needed it.

I was actually going to raise the question of her considering a move back to Missoula because of her lack of playing time. I would love to see her come home and help the LG become a force to be reckoned with. And with the writing on the wall regarding the younger sister that has taken her time away from her, I thought it would be realistic. I know the education she is getting is priceless with whatever degree she is pursuing, it is just something that came to mind after seeing her get a mere eight minutes of playing time last night.

Was thinking the same thing when I was watching the game. Great job!

Well, there are 8 upper-classmen ahead of her and she's only a sophomore. I would think she'll get plenty of time in the next few years.

I don't think she will be coming back. A degree from Stanford really means a lot. She is playing for a Hall of Fame Coach.

As far as her playing time...I noticed she was wearing an ankle brace so that may have affected her playing time somewhat. If she can work herself into a mini version of Kayla Pederson (get better at driving to the hoop and hitting the 3 point shot more consistently then there will always be a place for Josalyn on the team. She is one of the key reserves right now and can play 3 positions for the Cardinals.

If she can produce like she did today in her limited action on a more consistent basis, she may earn a starting role in future years. She is already getting a lot of minutes compared to the rest of the bench.

Come back and redshirt next year, then play two years with her little sister as a Lady Griz! :) No doubt just wishful thinking! ;)

She actually scored 4 points in a Stanford run right before the half and then hit a big 3 in the second half finishing with 7 points. I highly doubt she will leave Stanford...she really likes it there and even though basketball is a big part of her life, she is smart enough to know that it is the college degree that will be the most important thing about college.

Listening to Stanford's presss conference their head coach was really happy with Josalyn's minutes and her production and to expect to see her get more minutes going forward.

What is the latest on her little sister? I know she has a year left at MBS HS. Is it rumored that she is leaning toward the Lady Griz? Thanks ahead of time.

Why would Josalyn, only a sophomore on a team losing two key players to graduation, leave a team that is a perennial favorite for an NCAA championship for a Griz team that struggles past the first round? Duh? VanDeveer is well aware of what she has in Tinkle. I expect to see her minutes increase greatly next year. I'm a Griz grad, but there's no way that in life after basketball a Stanford education won't give her a stronger leg up than any state school this side of the Mississippi...To be the best you compete with the best. Young Ms Tinkle clearly understands that better than the folks administering Griz athletics who shy away from being challenged...Good for Jos. She made the right choice.

There are potentially a bunch of reasons. Her minutes went down substantially because of their stud freshman. She could come back to Missoula and be an all-time great for her parents alma mater. I don't think that is so unrealistic. Personally, I could care less what she does, I just asked the question based on the difference in pt over the last two years.

Who in their right mind wouldn't give up the opportunity to go to one of the best universities in the world and the opportunity to contend for the national championship every year in exchange for the chance to dominate the Big Sky and the privilege of taking that long bus ride to Pocatello every winter?

I think it's safe to extend your statement to encompass all state schools east of the mighty river. Unless, of course, one is trying to piss a UPenn alum off by saying it's a state school! But even then...

Seriously though, as much as I love UM, I think it would be pretty tough to leave the farm after about one's first trip down Palm Drive.

Also, Stanford dismantled Vandersloot and the Zags tonight, so Tinkle is moving on to the final four! Those girls are tall.

Congrats to Jos and I hope they win it all and I agree, there's no way she would leave her current situation.

Now, any info on what her little sis is thinking, related to her college BB plans?

So, how much less could you care? Stated correctly it's "I couldn't care less..." Sorry, it's just the amateur grammarian coming out in me...And she's still not leaving The Farm
