Confessions of a "sugar-coater" (Reformed)

I have probably watched more Grizzly football than most any of you. I started going to games with my Dad in the early '50's. My Dad was a Charter member of Century Club (now GSA). I don't think I missed a game thru grade or high school, or my first 4 years as a student at UM. I missed all the games during my 4 years protecting your freedom, except I did manage to see the 2 Camelia Bowls. Since returning from the Navy, I have missed 2 home games 1971 to present.
I admit to knowing less about football than many especially those of you who have played or coached. I usually give the benefit of doubt to the coaching staff. I grew up watching Montana football at it's worst, so I probably am a little more patient than those of you who only know the glory years (but I sure did like the glory years!)

I attended the introductory press conference for Coach Stitt and came a way really excited and enthused. He promised hi-octane, innovative offensive football. It was going to be grass football better than the Don Read days! Who even cares if we have a defense?!

Has that occurred? (Well, the no defense part has). Where is the innovation? We certainly could not be more predictable.

Most disturbing is the regression that we all see with this team. 2015 was a pretty good year with some exciting wins and a few disapointing losses, and most us of expected to build on last years successes, especially with the team having a full year under the staff. But this year's team is obviously worse, and has regressed steadily throughout the season, ending with the debacle of yesterday. This years team played with no passion or discipline ( has Conner Strahm already set the team career record for dumb penalties?) The "young team" is a poor excuse. We have plenty of upperclassmen, especially at RB, QB, DB, OL, and DL.
I fully understand the perils of of getting into a "coaching carroulsel" and the value of giving time to get your own players into the system, but with the regression we now see I don't see improvement.
It's time for Coach Stitt to fall on his sword!

I don't know if "falling on the sword" is in his character....
