Conference Tournaments in Lower Conferences

The power conferences will always be the ones that get the "extra" slots. Works just like the BCS in football. And, I've come to despise both systems.

Gawd I know, I remember a few years ago when a 18-12 (I think) Florida State team was all butt hurt because they didn't get an at-large.

i think i remember that season too. but wasn't that the season where they played great ball to finish the season, then they rolled their way through the ACC tourney only to lose to duke in the championship? i think it was. they were very nearly ACC champs and many times they take things like that in mind when selecting teams. if this is the season you are thinking about...i'm guilty as well of thinking they'd get in that year.

of course this type of thing happens every year and will never change. there will always be a team or two who is just on the outside looking in.

I feel smaller conferences screw themselves with 6 to 8 team conference tourneys. That increases the chances of a weaker team representing the conference. I feel it would be best for smaller conferences to have the top 4 conference teams to battle it out. Right now, Montana, UNC, and Weber State are the only BSC teams I feel NCAA tournament worthy. If anyone other than these 3 represent the BSC, it is a shame for the conference.

So a team that beat the Griz by 17, and the Bears by 11 isn't worthy??
