Yeah I agree. Our chances of landing him are probably pretty slim. He likely wants to remain in the FBS, and there are plenty of teams who might want him. At some point you would think someone would do a study of standout FCS players who move up and where they end up and how much playing time they eventually get, versus their NIL deals etc etc.We could try but I’m sure he’ll be looking at other P4 schools. The collective would have to pull together some serious money for him.
He’s not gonna be a back up at most lower level FBS schools, but sure take that full court shot and see if we can make it.You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. In my opinion he was one of the best fcs QBs last year before he got hurt. Some lower end FBS schools might want him to come in and be a backup but here he would be a starter no question in my mind. I know winning is important to him and I know Bobby said at QB club last year he knows his dad so maybe?? If we have a consistent offense takes some of the load off the defense and we can also try and play more aggressive again knowing we can score.

Hate to break it to everyone.
Our system isn't a fit for Gonzales.
Gonzales isn't a fit for our system.
Square peg, round hole.
I think you're suffering from " The grass is alwaysLol I'd take Gonzales in a heart beat if he wanted to come here. Jensen and Ah Yat would just have to battle it out for the backup spot!
I’d love nothing more than to see that but right now I’m not sold.I think you're suffering from " The grass is alwaysgreener" syndrome, stated with all due respect, GTID.
I do think Jensen, if healthy, can take us to the promised land. USC didn't give him a scholarship just because he could stand upright, had a pulse, and could drink through a straw !!!
And if Gonzalez did show up in Missoula, which I don't see happening, neither Jensen nor Ah Yat are going to roll over and play dead for him !!!
So you heard it here--Jensen leads us to the NC and this time, we win the damn thing !!!
So save this post so that when we fall on our face in the semi finals again, you can all collectively say, " Billings, in the wise words of AZ, you truly are ' Nostradumba$$ !!! ' "
This is something I have a hard time understanding. I know in Cliff’s interview that was shared on here a month or two ago, he attributed Vidlak’s success at SFA to finding a system that fit him. I get it maybe if it’s a run first QB but I hear this and I think “shouldn’t most good passing QB’s fit into the majority of passing systems?” I know I’m no football genius but I figure a good QB should just have to learn the receiver routes, blocking schemes, and get in sync with his receivers, and he should be mostly successful. That is if it’s a good offense.Hate to break it to everyone.

I mostly agree with you, Alabama, except at least in our system @ UM, the QB has to be able to scoot, pick up yards with his legs in the RPO, strengths of Clif and Keali'i but not so much for Sam !!!This is something I have a hard time understanding. I like how you're keeping your expectations of Jensen so modest and realistic!I think you're suffering from " The grass is alwaysgreener" syndrome, stated with all due respect, GTID.

After talking to a Texas Football HOF and former NFL LB, what we think is simple, is far from it. Our conversation about the transition from HS to College and from College to the NFL opened my eyes to what the players have to learn and understand about the game at each level. Each offense and defense is similar on the face but, unless you've been playing college football for 10 years, there is a lot of difference from one to the other. Some like to run slants and deep fades. Some like to run screens and more short to medium passing routes. Some like the play action fake and some like the shotgun and some like the RPO (although more seem to be going to the RPO). Each QB plays the best in a particular system with a particular set of passing routes and defensive reads and pre-snap calls and the requirement to audible or not and with a particular offensive line and running game. This is something I have a hard time understanding. So in my simple mind this tells me that a good well balanced QB should be able to fit into most any passing schemes after he gets the routes down and chemistry with his receivers. QBs limited in their abilities may have to play in offenses tailored to their specific strengths. I’m sure there’s many intangibles but I don’t feel like I’m too far off. After talking to a Texas Football HOF and former NFL LB, what we think is simple, is far from it.
