The kid didn't do his future any good today by getting ejected from the State Championship game. Superior showed Fairview how to play Class C football today, when no one thought anybody would touch Fairview.

I was at the Class C state championship game today, and Fairview was thoroughly out played. Superior's connection of quarterback Bill Smith to Adam Kay could not be stopped. They were clearly the best players on the field. In Vitt's defense, he sustained an injury that kept him out for about half the plays, but his ejection for punching at Kay was really poor. Fairview was way too cocky and Superior took it to them. Like I have shared before, the Griz need to take a look at Adam Kay. The kid is a great football player.

Hold on a minute. Don't believe everything you read or hear. First of all Cody Vitt didn't punch anyone. The ref was severely confused - even the Superior kid he tackled wasn't sure why Vitt was thrown out! Unless you were there you can't judge.
In addition, the kid sustained not just any injury, but a partially collapsed lung and 2 cracked ribs in the first quarter yet stuck it out and played. That shows character. Don't tarnish the character he's known for by rumors. He's a great player and kid.

I am sure he will do fine at Carroll

I don't know. There were photogs at the game, as well as many others who said Vitt THREW a punch, but didn't connect. Whatever. Bottom line is, if Kevin Clausen or anybody else on the Fairview staff willingly let Vitt play with broken ribs and a collapsed lung, then there will be consequences for that decision.

I was at the game and am in no way trying to tarnish Vitt's reputation. I would agree 100% that he is ultra tough for playing through his injuries. They undoubtedly affected his performance. However, playing injured doesn't mean you have character. By this reasoning, Roger Clemens would have high character because he pitched through pain numerous times in his career. How you behave when losing a game you fully expected to dominate might reveal something about your character though. Most of the people from Fairview did not show much character at all, including the coach who got tossed. Superior won the game and the refs did not alter the outcome at all. You are correct about Kay not realizing what had happened, but his teammates saw it real clear as it took place not far from the Superior bench. The ref didn't even hesitate in removing him from the game, and Vitt simply ran off the field with little arguement. Cody Vitt is a great player and quite possibly a wonderful kid, but last Saturday, character would not be a great word to describe anything related to Fairview.

Yes. I am sure they used their x-ray eyes and could tell right away that he had injured himself to that extent and let him play anyway.

Do any of you actually read the sh1t you type before you hit 'submit'?

read the MHSA football handbook on injuries. there are ways to tell of such injuries, and one easy way states: If a participant has prolonged shortness of breath, that coincides with internal pain, he/she may not be allowed to re-enter the contest without the consent of an authorized physician. If the kid had a partially collapsed lung, i'm pretty sure there would be immediate warning signs. all i'm saying is, the MHSA takes that kind of stuff dead serious these days.

While I think the toughness is cool, no coach in his right mind should've let the kid back out on the field if he knew what was wrong with him.
