I think the team is headed in the right direction and realize that is a unpopular view on here.
It could be unpopular because there are ugly facts that counter your thinking like:
Lost 5 of last 6 conf. games
Lost 5 of last 6 road games
The next two games are conf. games on the road.

All true Kem! I still like the talent that continues to come in and I think this season could still be good.
Thing is if the season goes to shit like you hope and Stitt gets canned then you can do your happy dance tell everyone you were right and we can start the new coach dance all over. I will also make a bold prediction that the new coach will be liked for under six months ;)

If it's not the "right" guy according to some boosters, he won't be liked on day one (like Stitt).

Really tired of the Stitt bashing...

The fact is he was left with a divided team that did not have enough talent to win the BSC or make the playoffs. And a group of "Me First" upperclassmen. I know posters will rail on those statements... but I don't really care.

His recruiting has been really really top notch, but recruits take a few years to get to the level that you want them to be at RIGHT now.

Ask yourself when if ever has UM had a frosh QB and Frosh Receivers this good?

On the D side, When have the Griz ever been so young...

Those that are calling for his head need to have a little more patience.

The team Sittt was left with actually made it to the playoffs the first year, so I don't understand how you can say it didn't have enough talent to make the playoffs. It obviously did.

Well, why was the team divided? It wasn't divided in the prior years. Why do you think the upperclassmen were me-first? Do you think they liked the coach?

We will see on the recruits. Agree, on nice frosh qb and some nice frosh receivers.

On the D, 2 of the 4 secondary starters are seniors. The linebackers are 2 seniors (I consider Strahm as the starter, as he played all except the first series) and a junior. The d-line is 1/2 seniors (depending on whether Davidson or Shaw is starter). So, 6 or 7 senior starters. The offense has only 5 senior starters, but Phillips had been the 6th. I agree that a number of the backups, including good ones, are young or younger.

Whenever I look at any coaching staff I wonder what each coach brings to the table.
ex: Choate brought his experience under Peterson to the Cats. Since the Griz have mainly Griz alum coaches could it be that they could use some fresh blood and ideas at the table?
Maybe the saying "they don't know what they don't know" applies.

Realistically, if someone is in the camp that Stitt should lose his job, they should prepare for the collateral damage to be 4 former Griz greats getting let go as well. Likely would be part of the dismissal.

If Hauck came, I assume he would likely keep many/all of them. Green, Germer, Ferriter, Schillinger. All but Schillinger have coached for him, and all played for him. Timmy H. was set to come if Bobby had been hired when Mick left.

Are you insinuating that coach Stitt is not even a medicore FCS coach.

While I want them to win NOW and be competitive NOW....you're not wrong. I think what has so many of us concerned is the unknown. Yes they are good recruits on paper, yes it takes time for most young players to develop. But will they? We know we don't like what we have now, we just really hope this works out. Only time will tell I guess.

That would be an ideal situation. But what if Stitt is fired and Hauck is not hired? Thinking that Hauck is the "coach in waiting" is probably not a safe assumption, although a lot of the board seems to feel that his second tenure at UM is inevitable, but nothing is for sure.

Its not a position coaches issue. If Coach Stitt can plan for making in-game and half time adjustments we will be ok. I believe we do more of this with the offense already. Seems not so much with the defense. I don’t think this is controversial as Coach Stitt admitted himself they need to improve on the making and I assume the handling of adjustments.

Good point. Stitt admitting they need to make adjustments is a good start. Let's just hope they actually make adjustments. And let's hope they make the the right adjustments. Otherwise we will be here at the end of November either:
1. Wanting Stitt to not get a renewal.
2. Demanding Stitt fire Semore.
3. Wanting a new coach.
4. Demanding we get Bobby.
5. Whining when we don't get Bobby.

Personally I hope we make good adjustments and finish the season strong. But I am not holding my breath much longer after the ISU game.

I'm glad someone else feels that way.

My concerns seem to contradict themselves. It is very difficult to entice a seasoned FCS coach into Missoula due to salary issues and the immediate and somewhat unrealistic expectations that come with Griz football; however, hiring from the FCS assistant coaching or D2 ranks brings with it a level of unknowns that take time to play out. So, what's an AD to do?

Haslem knows that he has invested a lot of time in allowing Stitt/Semore to learn on the job, so to speak, but when do the law of diminishing returns force him to divorce himself from them?

Then what? He's stuck because he can't offer a larger salary to an experienced coach to come in and win immediately. So, it's back to finding an unproven candidate, give him time to build, recruit, etc. and the cycle continues. Tough situation, Griz faithful.

So there is a TON of banter on the forum talking about bobby coming back... is there ANY merit to that at all? or is it a pipe dream? genuinely asking, not being sarcastic...

First of all, the program has always had talented athletes.

Second, Kem or nobody else that support the the Griz are hoping for the season to go to shit just to get a new coach, it’s going to shit because we don’t have an OC or DC. We have a HC that thinks he is a OC and feels that his DC is a genius also.

Many believe that coach Stitt was only mediocre at School of Mines because he couldn’t get the talent he need for his offense, well if you are satisfied with his recruiting, what’s the excuse now, he has his talent.
