CMR vs Butte

Going to check out my first high school game in years. Want to check out this CMR vs Butte game Friday night here in Great Falls. I'm just curious if there are any STARS coming out for either team? Who should I watch for?

Butte - Dallas Cook (QB) and Dahlton Daum (WR)
CMR - Alex Thomas (DE) Eric Dawson (ATH) Andy Grinde (H) Jayse McClean (QB)

I'd agree with those players, NikeGrizz.

In addition, for BHS, I'd also watch (to make plays): #20 Peter Granger (a 6'4" WR that did not play last year, but is having a great Senior season this year so far), #88 TE/DE Tyler Earles (6'3"), #8 RB Jake Eisenbarth (missed the state championship game due to concussion in the semi-final game), and #30 WR/LB Cory Farstveet (6'3").

Alex is still playing O-line, i cant tell if thats a good thing or a bad thing. :?

Obviously I have no idea, but I would assume it's a good thing...because he is a tough athlete, I would assume it would bode well to have him keeping a defender at bay (as to allow the offense that much better of a chance to be successful).

He'll go both ways, right? (Offense and Defense)

I think he'll stay at DE when he comes to the griz but, when ever he's needed im sure he will be fine.

Defense for the Griz for sure, I was just speculating on what he'll do for CMR. Will he play both ways (Offense and Defense) at CMR? That's pretty common in high school with your best athletes.

McLean has a heck of an arm, but his line hasn't been giving him much time.

I have heard he is going baseball though.

Alex's weight was closer to 215 at the start of the season and to put it in perspective he has benched 340 and can rep 320 4 or 5 times. He was recruited as an OLB.

Should be a great game. Neither team can really afford another loss. BHS kinda had CMR's number last year beating them twice, once in the state semis. I'm not sure what to expect this year but Butte has to score once they are in the redzone. Last week against Capital I believe they were inside Capitals 20 4 times (once a 1st and goal inside the 5) and came away with zero points on those drives. They moved the ball at will but couldn't finish drives. If they do the same against CMR they will probably lose.

My prediction Dogs 41 CMR 38, gonna be a shootout.

CMR & Coach Jack will get it done! They are pissed about the spanking at Sentinel, and losing a close one at home against Glacier. Must win time.

I know he's a Montana coaching legend but Coach Jack Johnson needs to hang up his whistle.. His times are behind him. They need a fresh face to take over that program. CMR will continue to struggle this year. I dont see them beating Butte...

CMR should be pissed about losing decisive to Sentinel...the following week Sentinel got mutilated by Bozeman, 34-0. And the Hawks played with out their starting tailback! Bozeman, the state runner-up, is the current #1 ranked team though. Bozeman's Will Weyer, the Griz QB signee, is tearing it up with almost 700 yards passing in two games. But about 120 of those yards were by fluke, as the defender fell down and allowed one reciever to run and extra 55 yards for a TD and on another play two defenders ran into eachother and allowed the reciever to run an extra +60 for the score.

Being a Butte fan, I do worry a little about this CMR game, being that it's in Great Falls and the fact that CMR lost to Butte twice last year both times in Butte. Neither proud program wants to go 1-2. It's a big game.

I mentioned WR Peter Granger for BHS because I liked what I saw out of him in Butte's lone home game this year so far. No one outside of Butte knows about him yet because he hasn't played football since the 7th grade, because he played on a traveling baseball team. But he has 15 catches in just 2 games so far this season.

Class AA

1. Bozeman
2. Capital
3. Glacier
4. Helena
5. Butte

Class A

1. Dillon
2. Billings Central
3. Laurel
4. Belgrade
5. Butte Central

Class C

1. Ennis
2. Wibaux
3. Charlo
4. Belt
5. Chester-Joplin-Iverness (one team)
