I'm not quite sure how (or even "if") to write about this, but this afternoon I attended the funeral of Dean Hanson in Missoula. He and his wonderful wife, Betty, have been dyed-in-the-maroon-wool Griz fans, especially Lady Griz fans, for more years than I know. In attendance at the funeral were Rob Selvig, virtually all of his assistants and a number of current and past Lady Griz. Now we all know they are playing the Lady Cats tonight, yet these good people took the time from their busy game day schedule to show honor and respect for a man who truly loved their team. I felt honored to be in their presence.

I am deeply saddened to read this. Dean and Betty were always Host family's for visiting teams when the LG held their annual tournament. They loved everything Griz, not just the Lady Griz. It will not be the same not seeing Dean sitting near the LG bench the next time I am in Dahlberg Arena. My thoughts and prayers go to Betty and family.
