Class C

Not sure if many people are watching it tonight, but on Montana PBS they are showing the documentary "Class C". It has been a very good show so far. I have always enjoyed watching Class C ball, the kids play with pride, passion, and have fun. They are dedicated not only to the team but to their towns, it is a way of life for these small schools.

I highly suggest watching it if you can.

Watching that program right now. It is pretty cool; both sad and uplifting. I wasn't even going to watch it, but thought I'd tune in for a few minutes, and it just pulled me in. I recommend watching it if you can.

And at least Shasta Grenier, one of the directors/creators, is a UM alum. Not sure about Justin, though. But yes, it is a great show, and the Bruursemma's are great people.

Wally Kurth, the producer and narrator, is a Billings West grad who did soap operas for a lot of years.

It's supposed to be on again, later in the week or on the weekend.

I watched Class C and it sure brought back a lot of memories from my high school days in Arlee, even though we only had boys team in those days. And it is true how a whole little town revolved around the basketball team in the winter months.

The director and cinematographer, Justin Lubke is a product of Ennis High, and went to that other school.

As I remember him, he was a super-smart kid, a very good athlete, and humble to boot.

Justin was involved in one of the most amazing basketball games I have ever seen. I was teaching in Ennis at the time. The game was a divisional game in Sentinel's gym. The plan was to watch the Ennis game, and then return to my parent's house to catch the woman's Bobcat/Griz game on TV. Needless to say, I missed the college game since the Ennis game against Manhattan Christian went into six over-times.

This is believed to be a state record. There was one other six overtime game in Montana, but it was played under the old three minute overtime rules.
