Soccer Citowicki leaving for Wazzu?

Yikes...we'll at least we know he'll accept the job since he was asked to "resign or be fired".
Yeah, I've been looking into that too. From what I can find seems to be a contract non-renewal. Also when he was hired at Troy he was the 4th coach in as many years, doesn't that say something about the administration at Troy.

Just been looking him up. He won both championships at Northwestern State, got them ranked in the top 70 RPI. The Big Sky conference isn't good, its basically the same as the Southland conference. Looking it up, in 2025 the Big Sky was ranked 24th and the Southland was ranked 25th out the 30 division 1 conferences.

Troy wasn't good at all, beat Eastern Washington tho in 2024 and that was EWU the best season they have had with that coach, we tied them at home 1-1. The Sun Belt is the 9th best conference in 2025. Plus in 2023 we lost to Georgia Southern 1-0 at home and Troy lost 3-2 that same year at GA Southern.

Winning a national championship at any level at any sport is a very tough thing to do.
Hopefully AD offers he accepts and we move forward building another championship team

Troy has been at the bottom of the Sun belt. Hard to recruit to compared to other Sun belt schools. His assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Troy is now at Purdue. His other assistant is now working for a college soccer recruiting company where place college players.

Seem like the guy at Purdue was his only full time assistant and the other was a GA.

What I don't understand why would you invite Weber to campus and then say you didn't like him? So his interview was good enough on zoom to bring to campus but then not good enough when on campus? I find that hard to believe personally.
Disagree. Maybe he didn’t do all that hot on a Zoom call and they thought, let’s give him an in-person interview because many people suck or are different in a virtual setting. And then when he interviewed poorly live and in person, it corroborated that he just isn’t what they’re looking for…..or sucks at interviewing.

I don't know much about Troy but if they were so bad, why did he leave a championship and NCAA tournament team to go there? I have some questions, hopefully the committee does a deep dive to make sure before an offer is extended.

Maybe he resigned or left due to differences on how the AD and athletic dept treated and funded the soccer program. Maybe he wanted to elevate the program and was told no.

Copied from the Northwestern State University Soccer news on 2/23/2023 announcing the hire of a new coach, Ian Brophy:

"Bringing Ian into the fold positions our program to continue to build on the successful foundation laid by the past two coaching staffs."

Brophy succeeds Stuart Gore, who accepted the women's soccer head coaching position at Troy in January. Gore led the team to a 24-10-5 record in his two seasons in Natchitoches, guiding NSU to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in nearly two decades.

In the past four seasons, the Lady Demons have been known for their tenacious defense, allowing just 66 goals in 75 games for a .88 goals against average. The conference stats have been even better, posting just a .51 goals against average in those four seasons, doing it with three different goalkeepers.

NSU had the conference's defensive player of the year three times in those four years and have had all-conference goalkeepers the past three seasons.

Brophy said, "The success here over the last four seasons certainly excites me and shows what the program is capable of if you can bring the right culture and work ethic."
