Soccer Citowicki leaving for Wazzu?

Nope no other name has been shared but at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they do another round and the applicants are from a small school like Davis & Elkins or Young Harris.
My worry is Washburn as a school has money and could very easily make a good counter offer. On top of the things you've said with the cost of living and his wife being a stay at home mother. They've lived in Lawrence, Kansas for a long time and built a life there. Can't imagine his wife would be happy giving that all up.

People seem to like him, he would be a good fit with his values. Hope he does but I’m not sure if he’ll take it or not because of all the issues listed before. $100k (if they paid him the full) just won’t go far enough as a single income for a family of 4 in Missoula. Fingers crossed one of the big donors contribute enough to bump up his pay or creates a nil deal for him to incentivize taking the position

If doesn't matter who they interview, the cost of living difference is the hurdle. If you go to Forbes cost of living relocation comparison, if you make a 100,000 in Lawrence KS you need to make around 132K in Missoula.

No timeline has been given and it seems like the school is prepared for worst case scenario and just hand J the HC position.

Whatever happens they need to get someone on board asap because everyday that passes we’re losing potential good asst coaches to other schools. Go check out NCAA Marketplace, or HigherEdJobs and you’ll see schools all over the country hiring soccer asst coaches.
The more local/regional open HC and assistant positions at UNLV, University of Nevada, Western Oregon have been filled already, even SUU who let Kia go are keeping their remaining coaches this year trying to avoid a mass exodus of players.

SidelineCoach, you hearing anything? Offered? Accepted? Turned down?
Nope haven’t heard anything, Davey went back home today.

Assuming they’re giving him the weekend to make a decision.

Someone asked about the timeline for everything, Jan 5th we were supposed to have a HC and since the other two didn’t accept the school hasn’t set a hard time now for hiring. That’s why I think they’re ready to just go with J.

For some reason it seems like they don't want to offer J the job tho? What's your gutted feeling on Davey, accepts it or turns it down?

Yea I’m not privy to why they haven’t just solidified J as the HC.

I think he’ll turn it down due to the economics of Missoula and UM. Don't think the rebuild would be to much of a challenge for him but I think the state of facilities is a turn off especially when you look at what he’s currently working with back home.

They do know they need to field a team by July. We know the HC salary range, what's the assistant salary ranges, that plays a part of it to if he wants to bring his over.

Maybe a wake up to AD and his staff, hopefully new president can clean house.

To be fair, Haslam did mention in his letter from the AD earlier this week that they finalized renderings and plans for Soccer locker room renovations and the work is expected to take place this summer. If there is a plan to address that area of concern, then that has to ease the burden a bit. Plus this is his first opportunity to be a D1 head coach. I think if he were to really sit down and weigh the options that the pros would outweigh the cons.

Not everyone wants to be a D1 head coach tho. He played at Baker (in kansas), coached at Baker now at Washburn. Him and his wife built a life there. Might need the X,Y and Z factor to take the job.

What the letter failed to mention was the originally the school was only allocating $500k to soccers facilities, the locker room building to do a remodel so that its code compliance is closer to $1mil.

For a coach yes sometimes its about getting to that D1 level but there are a lot of coaches that prefer D2/D3 or NAIA because of the location and smaller sizes of the school so you really get to know people on campus. I know D3 coaches is places as remote as Maine that make the same as what Chris was making at UM.

Hopefully we can turn the page on Monday and talk about a new era of Montana Soccer. I think Davy would do great but the short term will be painful based on how the program was left.

well overdue. Also to be fair why did it take 8 years for him and his staff to do something.

There's a reason they don't want to offer J the job. If you think he should have the job, you probably just know the J you see on social media or the guy you want to have a beer with. But he's not HC'ing material. It would be a huge mistake and the athletic department knows it.

We just need a coach we need to start recruiting for the current and future. Only had 2 verbals from the 2027 class and I am not sure if they went to WSU or reopened their recruiting
