Circle The Wagons for Coach DeCuire

StumptownGriz

Well-known member
Let me preface this post by saying I want Coach DeCuire to do whatever he feels is best for himself and his family with whatever career decisions he makes. He is a Griz legend through and through as a player and coach and his legacy will not be tarnished by moving up to a bigger school, bigger paycheck and bigger stage. He deserves it 100%

That being said lets circle the wagons as a fan-base and shout it out to DeCuire, Haslam and President Bodnar how much he means to this program, school and community and how much we want him to stay! Below are listed contacts for all 3 mentioned. If you haven't already, please email, tweet, or call and see if we can't create an overwhelming wave of support for retaining Coach DeCuire! :thumb:

All we can do is make our best offer. Hopefully there's another bump in salary/bonuses available as a reward to TDC but we certainly won't be his most lucrative option at this point.

I think calling is just a reassurance ritual. DeCuire knows he's loved and wanted at Montana. No number of phone calls will change that.

Here's what pisses me off about Montana.

At any other school, boosters can step in and influence coaching decisions. It's apparent to me that it took one or more boosters at Cal to buy out the $3 million remaining on Wyking Jones's contract. And that at other schools, boosters help out, big time. Jeez, just look what Phil Knight has done at Oregon or T. Boone Pickens has done for Oklahoma State.

God knows, we have boosters at Montana too. Maybe not a Knight or Pickens, but rich ones. I made a list. I posted it here about a year ago. The great post-World War II economic boom in America was a bonanza for many in this country, including Montana grads. Always cryin' broke just doesn't square with me, and it shouldn't with anybody else on this board. So:

--Either nobody is willing to step up;

--Or some Heavenly Mandate from the Gods in Helena prevents us from doing it.

Which is it?

Neither. I have 4 words for you: Montana Board of Regents.

Neither. We have rich boosters. But they donate to other aspects of the athletic department. We have a new athletic center thanks to boosters.
