ALOT OF TALENT COMING BACK WHITH D-LEE, ARAMIS, BARRET
SOME GOOD PITHER (WHEN HEALTH) WOOD & PRIOR
AND A WORKHORSE IN ZAMBRANO

GO CUBBIES AND OF COURSE THERES ALWAYS NEXT YEAR! :dance:

I donno, if you look through the Football and Basketball boards, it also sounds a lot like the Griz fans. :twocents:



I like the Cubs, but I can't afford to invest that much emotional energy in them. It's like rooting for Rocky Mtn College, an exercise in dispair.

Look for Mark Cuban to buy the Cubs. It was on the major sports stations this morning that he will be offerring The Tribune over $625 million for them. If he buys them, the Cubs will be a team to reckon with.

What's this? Are the Cubbies going to go from being the #1 team in Chicago to being the #2 team in Dallas (#4 if you count the Mavs and Cowboys)?
 
I've been a loyal Cubs fan my entire life. Glad to see you're so optimistic, monte.

This should be a a much better team than last years. With Soriano in the lineup, a healthy D-Lee, and Aramis, they should produce more runs. Matt Murton I think has the potential to be a great hitter, a double machine like Mark Grace was

The Cubs screwed up with improving the pitching staff. Ted Lilly is our big off season addition to the rotation? Please. I'm finished with Prior, and just about there with Wood. I definately like Wood better in the bullpen, but Lou is pretty much just gonna use him as a one inning set up guy. I hardly even consider Prior part of the team. He's had one good year, and has been hurt the rest of the time. I am so tired of hearing about "the staff is going to be great if Prior and Wood can just stay healthy..." It's bullshit, they're not going to stay healthy. Prior has given us no reason to believe he can last an entire season. Thank god for Zambrano, who is badass, or we would really be in trouble.

OK, just had to vent a little bit. I can't wait for opening day of baseball, the greatest game of them all. The Cubs will be alot better, no doubt. Maybe some magic happens this year, and they suprise the hell out of us. Man I hope so. Prior and Wood just have to stay healthy....
 
The cubs are already a team to be reckoned with. Toss Soriano on top of sluggers like A-Ram and Derek Lee and that lineup is kind of a bitch. Cubs are plenty prepared if he's not, but what if Prior is healthy? a la the second half of 03... pretty scary.

On the Cuban thing... you guys know how he made his money, right? He invented broadcast.com so he could listen to Cubs games over the internet.

Not quite. Cuban was already a millionaire from the sale of MicroSolutions to Compuserve by the time he started Audionet, the precursor to broadcast.com.

Audionet was originally conceived by Cuban and an old college buddy so that they and fellow Indiana University alumi could listen to IU basketball games over the early internet. The Cubs may have been one of the first pro teams that he signed up but they weren't the reason for the creation of the business.

Donald Trump is involved in a match at Wrestlemania 23 where his representative, ECW Champ Bobby Lashley, will be facing Vince McMahon's representative, WWE Intercontinental Champ Umaga. The stipulation is that the billionaire who's representative wins the match shaves the head of the billionaire who lost. Cuban is predicting that Umaga will beat Lashley, therefore causing Trump to go chrome dome.

I wonder if Cuban will show up at Wrestlemania to influence the match.

Yeah forget what I said about prior. His fastball was in the low 80s yesterday. Damn.
