Prepare for beer to be thrown on you and god forbid if the Griz start to win. God may have mercy on your soul. One thing they can't do over there is stand the Griz winning, which we haven't done much of recently there. Win or lose stay away from the street with the party houses by the stadium they have dented my car twice throwing things at it because we fly our Griz flag

I'm certain we are being bussed out from the Red Lion so car damage is not an issue. It would sure be great to celebrate a victory after the game. I'll report back on our experience in Cheney.

Go Griz!

I've never been to a game in Cheney before.....is it really that bad as far as being harassed?

There's douchebags in every fan base, but I sat right in the middle of the home side in 2012, and it was just friendly banter the whole game. Didn't have any issues the last time we won in 2008, either.

I hope all Griz fans have safe travels and good times. Stop in at Section 13 or Zentropa in Cheney. Both do a good job. Going to be a fun Saturday no matter what.

No...every fan base has their fair share of jackasses, including ours, but I believe Griz fans will be treated well Saturday.

There will be a ton of tailgates, in both the upper and lower lots that will be more than generous to both fan bases.

There will definitely be some friendly banter, but that will probably be the extent of it, and it's the same way at nearly every stadium..,

It's going to be a Great day for football Saturday… Safe travels to all of you coming over, enjoy the pregame, and enjoy the game (Just not to the tune of a victory). I'm sure I will see many of you up there...

Well, my mother certainly learned many a new cuss word from the insults hurled at us as we left a few years back. In my mind, it's the worst place for visitors' treatment besides Autzen. But perhaps that's just because it's a big rivalry.

Again this year, the University of Montana Student Safety Board has issued a traveler’s advisory for any UM student or alumnus that is traveling to Cheney for the game.

There is a general advisory to bring blankets, tarps or stadium chairs to form a protective layer between yourself and the aging, dilapidated, ex-high school bleachers on the “stadium’s” visitor side. Those sitting on these bleachers should also use caution with food and drink to ensure that the flaking lead-based paint does not come into contact with consumable items. The University is advising pregnant women and children under 12 to not sit in this section of the “stadium”.

Another area of concern is the contamination risk of interacting with Eagle alums. Many of these individuals spend much of their working lives around and immersed in harsh chemicals and solvents. The EPA and OSHA have long warned of the prolonged exposure to many of these chemicals and the effects it can have on human development; executive functioning of the frontal cortex and impulsivity. This well researched effect is of course more commonly known as “Eagle Syndrome”. Again, the University advises that pregnant women and children remain at least 25’ away from these individuals at all time.

An additional area of concern is basic hygiene while in and around the “stadium” and the City of Cheney. The “stadium” is devoid of Indoor plumbing, as is much of the community, and relies entirely on portable sanitation devices (i.e. Honey Buckets). Although these devices are plentiful, many only a couple of yards from the playing field, their general cleanliness and maintenance has historically been suspect. Again, the University of Montana suggests that under no circumstances should pregnant women and children under 12 use these facilities. Travelers are admonished to remember to carry a personal hand sanitizer with them at all times while traveling to Cheney. Remember the simple rule when in Cheney: WWWO. Wash your hands well and wash them often.

The University of Montana urges all travelers seeking lodging for the weekend to allocate hotels and motels in the Spokane Valley. Even low-budget lodging in North Spokane, along what is locally referred to as the “Cocaine Corridor”, will afford one with greater comfort and safety than the lodging options in and around the City of Cheney.

*A special advisory is also in place for two historically problematic lodging options in Cheney: Jimbo’s Rent a Trailer; and, The Farmer and his 3 Daughters Bed & Breakfast. Both have poor track records of service and multiple complaints from UM students, staff and alumnus who have stayed in the past. Due to ongoing litigation, further comments cannot be made at this time.

** Although many of the locals appear to suffer from microcephaly, there has been no documented outbreak of the Zika Virus in or around Cheney, WA. The increase in tiny-headed people (THP) is believed to be related to the unusually high number of Cheney residents that suffer from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

The University wishes all who travel to and from Cheney a safe and comfortable trip. By following a few safe traveling precautions (STPs), you can expect to have an over 80% chance of survival following your trip to Cheney.

Wish we were there again. We were there two years ago. The tailgate was okay, and we were in no way mistreated by EWU fans.
