"An experienced Renton squad, returning four starters, surprised highly touted Gig Harbor 68-51 at the Les Schwab Tip-Off Classic on Friday night at Renton High School.

The Tides looked to rally in the third quarter. Senior center Mathias Ward, who led all scorers with 20 points, scored on a powerful dunk on the first possession. Three times in the third quarter Gig Harbor pulled within six points, but Renton responded each time with big buckets, including a four-point play from Ali."
