Changing of the guard

Jeff Choke

Well-known member
Starts this Saturday in Bozeman, we got a little something in store for Beau Baldwin and his blue Bobcat Kupp.

If you guys were following me on Twitter you would already know whats going to happen on Saturday. I have like 9 followers now, might have 10 by next week. The tide is turning and we are winning Twitter like we are winning the state and changing the guard.

I'm actually rooting for you for once Coach. An EWU loss gives us a better chance of capturing the conference title. But if EWU decides to hang 50 on you and makes you look bad, I guess that's not a terrible day either.

Thanks! Add me on Twitter :thumb:

I would guess they will hang more than 50 on MSU.

That's what I call win-win

Also, poll-wise and SOS-wise, next week a top 5 win on the road looks a lot better than a win over a top 15 coming off a loss.

All true but if they lose to Cats and then us, and we run the table then we win the conference and get the auto bid. We would also be ranked ahead of them for polls st that point. UND may still have something to say about it as they may run the table and be undefeated in conference.

Is "the guard" some kind of panty liner that you change after you wet or crap your pants? If so then the Bobcats may be overdue for a changing of the guard. Actually I believe they may have changed the guard several times this year; definitely at the end of the Sac St game.

With respect to EWU, if the Griz win out they will have the upper hand between each other for the autobid due to the head-to-head next week (regardless of the MSU-EWU result or any other EWU results).

The real roadblock is North Dakota and Weber State both being undefeated at this point and UND having a relatively easy schedule remaining. They play each other so one of those teams is guaranteed a loss. Hopefully, the winner can also pick up at least a loss in the remaining 4 weeks.

If multiple teams end up with 1 loss (for example, UM and UND), then the first tiebreaker is head-to-head or best record against tied teams. Since they didn't play each other, the next tiebreaker is record against common conference opponents in descending order. This is why we as Griz fans should want EWU or any other of the wins to be as high in the standings as possible. Also, if EWU, UM, and UND all tie with one league loss, then UM gets the autobid because:

Record against those tied
UM (1-0)
UND (0-0)
EWU (0-1)

This is all assuming UM wins the head-to-head with EWU and Cal Poly drops another game. The one small positive of the conference's bloated scheduling fiasco is that through tiebreakers it tends to reward SOS if it gets to that point.

I was just going to bring up Cal Poly only having 1 loss and beating the Griz heads up so that plays a role too. You hit that at the end.

Coach Choke I have a few questions maybe you could help me with. First, will you be shaving for this contest with EWU? Second, what was with the personal foul against NAU a couple weeks back? Finally, why did it take so long to figure out that "happy meal" was the best quarterback on the roster?
