Week 6 | 10/8/2012 | CS Top 25 Poll

1. North Dakota State Bison
2. Old Dominion Monarchs
3. Montana State Bobcats
4. Wofford Terriers
5. Eastern Washington Eagles
6. James Madison Dukes
7. Georgia Southern Eagles
8. Youngstown State Penguins
9. Stony Brook Seawolves
10. Cal Poly Mustangs
11. Sam Houston State Bearkats
12. Appalachian State Mountaineers
13. New Hampshire Wildcats
14. Lehigh Mountain Hawks
15. Northern Arizona Lumberjacks
16. Albany Great Danes
17. Central Arkansas Bears
18. South Dakota State Jackrabbits
19. Towson Tigers
20. Illinois State Redbirds
21. McNeese State Cowboys
22. Tennessee State Tigers
23. Harvard Crimson
24. Samford Bulldogs
25. Eastern Kentucky Colonels

Others receiving votes:
The Citadel Bulldogs, Sacramento State Hornets, Northern Iowa Panthers, Richmond Spiders, Montana Grizzlies, Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens, Indiana State Sycamores, Drake Bulldogs, Jacksonville State Gamecocks, Maine Black Bears, Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks, Alabama A&M Bulldogs

Sorry, but having a gaudy record in a shitty conference does NOT impress me. I'm looking at YOU, Albany, Tennesse State, Harvard, and Eastern Kentucky.

Weird seeing teams like Delaware, Montana and Northern Iowa in the "Others receiving votes" section instead of the top 25..

I think Albany probably deserves to be in the top 25. They beat Maine on the road and gave Youngstown State a very good game on the road as well. They aren't in a very good conference of course, but at least they did well in their non-conference games against some decent opponents.

When all three of your losses come from teams in the top 15 on this list and all but one of those could have been last second wins...you should not be sitting in others receiving votes! :butt:

Yeah, you should. Losses are losses are losses. Close counts only in horseshoes and grenades.

+1

The Griz deserve NOTHING, but must earn every inch. Hopefully by seasons end we will be 8-3, and they will have rightfully earned their way back into the polls and back into the playoff picture, but as of now, we are no more than a middle-the-pack team. We have not closed ball games the way that veteran, quality teams do, and that is what differentiates playoff caliber teams from the rest.

But, all of our wins against teams near the bottom of the 120

I had the Griz at 22. They are still talented and played App and EWU to the wire. No way Tenn St., Albany and other schools deserve to be higher (Although Albany does have a CAA win this year). Tenn St. got run over by Central Arkansas last year in the playoffs and we saw how UCA did in Missoula.

This.

I think the Griz are probably about where they should be.

That said, I wonder how many of the voters would put, say $2,500 on Samford, Albany, Towson or Central Arkansas to beat the Griz straight up. My hunch. Fewer than 1%.

Cracks me up how fans can say things like "the griz deserve nothing" but the same fans think and cry and bitch and moan and whine about they deserve something because they pay money to watch the griz play!

Where does that come from? I would put more credence in the AGS poll or Championship subdivision poll over the coaches poll any day. You are getting input from people who actually see all these teams play and comment on what they see. The Griz have lost 3 games yet have been right there in all the games (2nd half of NAU not withstanding). When people rank teams you do it on the basis of who you feel are the best. My ranking of 22 penalizes the Griz for losing those games, yet, I think they are still a better team than Albany, Tennessee St and Eastern Kentucky or Harvard

Like I said in another thread, putter: having a gaudy record in a shitty conference don't impress me none. Any team from the OVC, Big South, MEAC, Patriot, Pioneer, Ivy etc. not named Stony Brook or Lehigh really has no business in the poll, or ahead of the Griz.

Albany deserves to be ranked a hell of a lot higher than Lehigh does.
