Cool beans. If he pans out we may not have to throw one of the other kids in front of NDSU for their first game as starter but hey....competition is good and he's going to have to earn it.

University of Idaho quarterback Chad Chalich has requested and received a release from his football scholarship, UI Athletic Director Rob Spear told the Moscow-Pullman Daily News today.
Chalich, a sophomore from Coeur d'Alene, played in four games this season as backup to starter Matt Linehan.
Spear said Chalich, who has two years of eligibility left and has the ability to play right away at an FCS program, has been granted permission to contact Montana, Sacramento State and Idaho State.
“We wish him the best,” Spear said.
The official release from the program has yet to occur but Spear said it's "inevitable" at this point.
Chalich was instrumental in leading the Vandals (1-9) to their only victory of the season against New Mexico State on Oct. 18. Chalich came off the bench following a Linehan injury (concussion) and helped Idaho to a 29-17 victory in the Kibbie Dome.
In his four games, Chalich completed 36 of his 64 passes for 491 for two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also carried the ball 25 times for 156 yards and a touchdown.
In his lone start of the season against San Diego State on Nov. 8, he accumulated 212 total yards and two total touchdowns, but suffered a hip injury that kept him on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
Chalich threw for 1,715 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions in his Vandal career.
Linehan, a redshirt freshman, and Jake Luton, who used his redshirt this season, are the only remaining quarterbacks on the roster.
