Do you really think the Bobcats would take this guy if they felt he would be a real problem? Coach Ash has an outstanding track record. Do you think he would jeopardize that? If you do your are really dumb. Just say'in!
after the thomas brothers and homec media frenzy last year, you'd think he'd want to not make another dumdass out himself again this year, but it does make one wonder though doesn't it?
Bearassed youre really missing the key point here. The names you mentioned got the boot for their behavior, while the griz coaching staff has had a hard time letting go of the trouble makers. You might want to look on your front porch because the problems are staring right at you. Should I elaborate? Here I go Stuberg, Middleton, Jordan Johnson, Trumaine Johnson, Gerald Kemp, Quinn, and Jimmy Wilson. All of these guys have two things in common they all have had more than one run in with the cops and they all were able to stay on the team. You tell me who has bigger issues right now you miserable twerp.

hey hockey puck, clue me in on Stuberg and JJ having more than one run in with the law? I'm listening.

Well that's about par for the course when it comes to grizzle athletics and some fans like yourself these days.Anything goes as long as the stadium is full on Saturdays right?

Without him the Cats would be starting Darius Jones (SR) who is pretty solid technician, but doesn't come up with a lot of interceptions and Deonte Flowers (So) who should lead the team in interceptions next year for the Cats (low standard) but shows a tremendous ability to jump routes.

Where we are struggling is at the safety position which Barnett hasn't ever played. Worth the risk because he brings some size to the position. Was rated 4 star recruit and was signed by Texas so there is some talent there if he can stay healthy.

there's no question he's good, but he has baggage. with his size and physicality he shouldn't have a problem transitioning to safety. you guys already had the best defense in the league going into the season, if he plays safety you might have the best defense in the nation. as long as he isn't a lockerroom wrecking ball.

Difficult to say with this kid. He's had a couple very minor run in's with authorities. I guess the question is whether or not these are isolated incidents or if this will be a continuing trend.

Another interesting dynamic is his relationship with DeNarius McGhee and MSU team captain Tray Robinson - he lists both of them as his brothers on facebook. Both Tray and DeNarius are high character guys who are team leaders. I think the hope is that those two take Eryon under their wing and keep him focused on what's important.

He's definitely a risk, both in terms of character as well as durability. Luckily coach Ash has brought MSU's APR to a point where he can now take a few risks every year. Some work out, some don't.

I have a feeling he will work out because of DeNarius and Tray being at MSU. Those two are high character guys and will make sure Eryon stays in line. If his knee holds up I believe this will be a good pickup for MSU. Dangit!

As for the Thomas brothers…. The younger got the boot before even stepping onto campus leaving plenty of time for that scholarship money to be reallocated. Absolutely no harm done. As for Tyler, everything I’ve heard has been consistent that he came in and worked his ass off. I remember Ash mentioning at a QBC meeting that he was really showing great leadership on the conditioning and weightlifting. The reason cited for not coming back was that he “lost his passion for football”. This is unfortunate to say the least, but it was clear that his days tackling police officers in the buff were over. Let’s not revise history too much on these guys please.

And for Barnett, I think it’s important to note that he lists DeNarius and Tray as “Family” on his Facebook page. DM and Tray represent the core leadership for this team and I have no doubt that this is going to be a good fit on the personal/character side of things. Recall that Tray has pretty much written the book on how to drop down from a BCS AQ school and be successful in the FCS. He is incredibly hard working, keeps his mouth shut and leads by example, and was perfectly willing to take a backup role behind a kid from Frenchtown. These are the qualities that got him voted as a team captain, and I have no doubt this same path to success at MSU has been communicated very clearly to Barnett.

As for Barnett’s knee problems?? Yup. Flame away. There is significant risk here in my opinion.

Nate Montana had "baggage".
Kavario Middleton had "baggage".
JD Quinn had "baggage".

The list goes on and on....

Montana had an MIP from police breaking up a big house party at Notre Dame. I think there were about 50 MIP citations. Dozens of football players. You call that "baggage"?

I think that was AZ's point....as the "baggage" that Eryon Barnett is bringing is pretty much equivalent to an MIP.

The entire MSU football team could get caught at Teaser's, every last one of them drunk, with fake IDs, and it still wouldn't bump UM off the front page right now. ;)
