Carroll 76, Idaho State 75

I think this would be classified as a 'bad' loss for ISU. When it comes to bubble teams, this would be a bad loss. Wait a minute, BSC doesn't have a chance in hades in getting an at large team into the NCAA's. So just chalk it up as really embarasing for ISU.

Seems like Idaho's Division 1 basketball teams are struggling with NAIA opponents. Boise State lost by and embarassing margin to Albertson's College which is located in Caldwell, Idaho. At one time BSU was down by 27. Hopefully the Griz will execute well against teams that are classified by lower divisions because it surely looks bad when you lose them.

Although losing to an NAIA team does look bad in basketball, it is not even NEAR as bad as losing to a lesser division in football. A basketball team only requires five players, and a team only needs two or three good players to be competetive. In football, you can have three all-americans on one team and still be a cream puff.

I wouldn't write off any team's chances because they lost to a D2 school in basketball. You may recall that Montana lost by almost twenty points to Alaska anchorage in '02-'03 and then went on to beat Stanford a couple of weeks later when they were nationally ranked, in Maples! Its just too early to tell for anyone.

You all have to realize the game was an exhibition that doesn't even count. Plus, I am betting the coach experimented with many combinations of players to see which worked. This the time when coaces are trying to figure roles for all their players. They may be playing many of their younger players also that won't be getting many minutes when the games do start to count.

You just cannot really judge a team's future based on an early season exhibition game accurately.

That may be true that they experimented with some different sets, but when it comes right down to it, ISU did not want to lose to Carroll and I am sure they had their best unit on the floor AT LEAST the last 10 minutes. Exhibition or not, athletes and coaches play to win, and you are kidding yourself if you think ISU is saying to themselves, 'Oh well, it was just an exhibition game.'
