Jason Gesser was named Wyoming's new quarterbacks coach in February 2013. He was most recently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Idaho in 2012. He also served as the interim head coach at Idaho for the final four games of the Vandals' 2012 season. Gesser spent two seasons at Idaho, originally joining the Vandals as running backs coach for the 2011 season.

Gesser was an All-America quarterback at Washington State his senior season of 2002, and finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy balloting that season. Gesser led Washington State to a 10-3 record in 2002 and a berth in the Rose Bowl versus Oklahoma. Washington State concluded the season ranked 10th in the final Associated Press poll.

This would be a HUGE get from a longevity standpoint. Gesser knows recruiting in the Pacific Northwest pretty much better then any young available coach. He started the Northwest Elite Camp that in 2013 NW Elite Football Camp Featured Over 90 Coaches from 19 College Programs. Every DI program on the west coast is represented at this camp by head & position coaches. He should be ready to move on. I would assume he's not to thrilled to be calling plays in Wyoming now.

Born May 30, 1979, Gesser grew up in Honolulu, Hawai'i, where he played his prep football at Saint Louis High School. He and his wife, Kali, have three children: daughter Jordyn and sons Kolten and Kruz. Gesser recruits the states of Hawai'i, Oregon and Washington. He obviously is comfortable with the time zone having spent time in Pullman & Moscow. At just 35 years old, here's a guy that could put down roots in Missoula & bring the Griz back to chasing natty's on a regular basis.

Let's examine the level of offensive success at Idaho and at Wyoming. He has yet to have any success as a coordinator, and currently is out of coaching, but he's a candidate for this HC job? Maybe a candidate for OC....

Is there any indication Gesser is a candidate for the Montana job? He runs a nice skill camp in the Seattle area, but what suggests he's head coach material?
