Can You Hear Me Now?!

I like Stitt, but how do you explain the start of the two halves?

UM 1st M21 15:00 Kickoff M29 13:57 Punt 3-8 1:03
UM 1st S46 12:47 Fumble S40 11:23 Punt 3-6 1:24
UM 1st M20 06:01 Punt M28 05:07 Punt 3-8 0:54

UM 3rd M34 13:59 Punt M40 13:19 Punt 3-6 0:40
UM 3rd M24 12:21 Punt M30 11:13 Punt 3-6 1:08
UM 3rd M22 09:57 Kickoff M30 08:05 Punt 3-8 1:52
UM 3rd M35 03:49 Kickoff M33 02:24 Punt 3--2 1:25
UM 4th M30 14:46 Punt M27 13:35 Punt 3--3 1:11
so the question is: is this how it is going to be, or how it was? I like the adjustments made in the season that got the Griz where they are, I feel like this will be corrected as well, but I agree it is crazy to see continuing trends. I am on board that this will get corrected.

Agreed, I thought we could have/might have converted a couple of those early drives in the 3rd and really put SDSU on the back foot. Loved the long hook to Roberts but then the OL had a brain freeze/bad set(lol) and we ended up shooting ourselves in the foot. Hope all the boys get on the same page for NDSU and keep "the streak" alive. GO GRIZ

It was a great team effort....very happy with the win... A few things we could have done better and we'll work on that, but now we're on to North Dakota State.

We just flat out did not execute at all in the third quarter. Every drive we had was a three and out. I think we had something like 15 yards.

This.

Play calling was very similar to the 1st half. Brady made some checks to runs where SDSU was just making plays. We threw the ball poorly, BG not accurate and looked to be hobbled and out of sync. They brought pressure and got some sacks...better than a pick 6. Mentality from BG was probably a little different in terms of ball protection. It was not conservative from a coaching standpoint IMO.

The commentator on ESPN3 really nailed it. After the first few Griz three and outs in the first quarter, he stated that the Griz O went to a pass first, up tempo and rhythm based attack that SDSU had no answer for. In his view " if the Jack Rabbits don't start blitzing and disrupting Brady's rhythm, this game was over". SDSU made the defensive adjustments in the second half but it was too little to late. This guy also brought up the fact that the Griz run the ball every time after a big pass play. He was right. It's gonna be an interesting chess match next week. I wonder how many times the Bison throw the ball?

Drives in the 2nd half:

1: P,P,P
2: R,P,P
3: R,R,P
4: P,R,P
5: P,P,P
6: P,R,P,R,P,P,R
7: P,R,P,R,R,R,R,K,K,K (end of game)

Looks to me like Stitt tried every combination of play calling imaginable, but couldn't get the players to execute. Drive 6 was the long drive that got to the 19, then pushed back to the 44 on penalties.

This is it exactly.

I said so in the game thread, but it was obvious that BG was not quite right in the 3rd and 4th qtrs.
But he hung in there and O-Line/Win made the plays that were needed. Defense was f...ing awesome all game under great duress in the 2nd half.

I'm definitely looking forward to next Saturday. With this team and coaching staff, I fear no one. (but I may go another week without washing my stinky, lucky Griz shirt - it's held up for 3 straight weeks!)

I'm only special in the educational sense, it was easier to find my seat on that short bus.

I agree that in the 3rd quarter SDSU ran more successful football plays, it wasn't enough to win. So over four quarters we executed more successful plays. Perhaps you should post a celebration of that.

How about 2. Getting 15 yards in the 3rd quarter is tough to do when you are trying. Montana gets 15 yards in the 3rd quarter next week and NDSU will wipe the floor with them. It is the execution coming off a dominating half, at home, and nothing is there that confuses me.

Can someone post the "frontier gibberish" clip from Blazing Saddles?

Odd, because there's a LOT here that confuses me. 8-)

Holy cow, there are words that I typed that are not there....LOL. I meant that it is pretty tough to get only 15 yards in a quarter.....when you are up 24 points and dominated the entire first half yet you come out of the locker room with no emotion or execution, I was confused at a complete turnaround.
