Cal Poly vs. Eastern Washington

After Eastern Washingtons win over Cal Poly both teams have identical records: 5-1 in conference and 7-2 overall.

The bigskyconf.com website has Cal Poly positioned above Eastern. Considering Eastern beat Cal Poly I would thought it would be the other way around. Can someone edjucated me and explain why this is not the case?

Thanks!

Not a conference game

Seeing as both teams are in the Big Sky Conference and the game counted for/against each other's conference standings, what kind of a game was it?

It was a non-conference game. The Big Sky website has it right. Cal Poly has one conference loss (Sac. State) and is 7-2 overall. EWU, Poly and MSU all tied for second at 5-1 with EWU holding the tiebreaker over both right now.

I agree it was a non-conference game and that is why each team has a 5-1 record in the conference. Likewise they both have a 7-2 nonconference records. So if both teams have equal records how do they decide rankings? Yes, C comes before E, but is that really the logic? Considering Eastern Washington beat Cal Poly it really seems more appropriate to put EW above Cal Poly.

All that aside, the bigger question is why does the NCAA.COM website have EW at 6-1 in the conference and Cal Poly at 5-2 in the conference?
