This bye week couldn't have come at a better time for the Griz, riding a 3 game winning streak and a little banged up from that run they've got the week to recover and then prep for a major road game at ranked Weber State.
Right now the Griz are sitting around 21 to 24 depending on the poll, looking at the games for teams ranked around them there's not a lot of suggestion that there could be some losses that would result in the Griz going anywhere. Stony Brook is off, McNeese plays 1 win Incarnate Word, Western Carolina plays winless VMI, New Hampshire plays 2 win Towson, 'Nova is off, and Elon heads to 1 win Rhode Island.
#17 Gambling State does play 5 win Alcorn State, if Alcorn can get the win that could help the Griz. Seems like the only game with a team ranked near Montana that could bump up their ranking. Also Samford who is currently 16th goes to #5 Wofford. Not sure if a loss @ the #5 team would sink them below the Griz though.

Looking more locally at the Big Sky there's a few key games to keep an eye on:
1. Weber @ Cal Poly. Obviously a game of interest for the Griz as Weber is our next opponent. Winless Poly had a week off but is I believe still really banged up, meanwhile Weber is coming off their first conference loss. It's a night game, one of the last slated FCS games to play on Saturday.
2. EWU @ Southern Utah. So is SUU for real after beating Weber? We'll find out as the Eagles come to town. Statistically speaking SUU has the highest ranked pass defense in the Big Sky (conference stats only). However when you look at who they played; Weber, CPSLO, and Sac St; the 10th, 12th, and 7th ranked passing offenses in the 'Sky.
3. UC Davis @ NAU. Davis looks like a team on the rise while NAU suddenly looks like a playoff contender. Think about this, if SUU pulls off an upset win against EWU and NAU beats Davis, the Lumberjacks will stand alone as the top team in the conference.
4. MSU @ UNC. Always gotta make sure little brother doesn't get into trouble. And for this game, MSU should roll the baby bears. In conference play UNC has the worst scoring defense, 2nd worst total defense, and is worst in rushing defense. If Murray throws more than 12 to 15 passes I'll be pretty surprised.

Enjoy the week off Griz Nation!
