BSC: poor showing

It'll be a sad day when we have to start worrying about the Southern Utahs and Northern Arizonas representing us. It's every team for itself at this point.

Agreed, but they got tough draws too. They could have beaten a majority of the teams that played yesterday.

Nau and suu did not represent the bigsky well. Hope that changes next week

Southern Utah did about as well as was expected. SUU had no offense, and Sam Houston is tough for anyone to defend when they are "on". Northern Arizona disappointed in that they lost all semblance of a passing game until the final four minutes of the game. Mighty hard to win when your entire second half is three plays and a punt, and/or fumble, and/or interception. Too bad they let a game slip away that they should have won. Now Montana and Eastern WA just need to take care of business this weekend and advance.

They lose 26-7 and give up 343 on the ground to their 53 and "they should have won?" They ran right over NAU all day.

NAU was sunk the minute Poe was hurt

South Dakota State is a very solid team. I expect the Jackrabbits to come into Cheney and give EWU a tough game. I think Adams will be pressured a lot and sacked a time or two, but in the end, I think Eastern will win a close game. And Southern Utah had a really tough assignment in traveling to Huntsville. Sam Houston's losses in conference, I believe, were at SELA, at McNeese and at Central Arkansas. The Big Sky got hit pretty hard yesterday; hopefully this coming Saturday is a different story.

Not trying to dismiss So. Dakota St, they played great and definitely earned the win.
Simply noting NAU should have...
Gone into halftime ahead with a two score lead instead of being tied up.
Shouldn't have an O lineman jumping offsides when already backed up at the 2 yard line. Shouldn't have plowed into a punter turning momentum & the ball back to SDSU.
Should have told their backup QB that "Throwing it away is better than a 12 yard sack".
In short NAU had the potential to win this game, but it was clear they had no chance with the way they actually played yesterday. :ugeek:

This probably didn't help.

"NAU was without coach Jerome Souers, who was dealing with complications from a necessary back surgery. Defensive coordinator Andy Thompson served as interim coach for the Lumberjacks' first playoff appearance in 10 years.

“Not having your head coach is tough, but I think the kids prepared well and worked hard,” said Thompson."
