Brock to transfer...or NFL???

This kid better get his head on straight because on straight, it is not. He's too hyped because of his height & ability (the "proto-typical NFL QB"). He's not as great as he thinks he is. (Anyone heard of Tim Tebow?) He needs to stay at ASU (be a student, hmmm?), and perform well THERE. He's already in the sights of NFL scouts. What the hell?

this post is mind boggling. have you ever met the kid? i'm thinking there is no way you have with these comments. i admit, i haven't spent a lot of the time with him, but i had an opportunity to coach him when he was a bit younger, and he was a great kid. a little cocky? maybe. no more so than any great athlete we have seen in montana. who cares? he's simply competitive, and is willing to do anything to win. i'll take that 10 out of 10 times. and he's a great student by the way......

as for tebow....what on earth are you talking about. i'm not a tebow fan. i hate the gators and i hate the broncos. but he too was an exceptional student. and what has that kid EVER done to insinuate that he thinks he's better than he is?! he is nothing but humble in everything he has ever done since like middle school. say what you want about the guy....but you might be the first to question his personality.

i need to follow my own advice. i have made it a point to not respond to many of your posts because they are just crazy to try and follow. honestly, i used to think you were just saying things to get a rise out of people. however, after being part of this board for a while, i'm reluctantly starting to believe that you are serious in your posts...and that is VERY scary. you seem to really enjoy judging people that you don't know which is not a great trait to have fwiw....

Good post, Cats. I agree. Thanks for making the post.

a small faction of Griz fans turn into complete haters when someone like Osweiler leaves the state. It's amazing how many people are so Montana-centric in excess. I have never met Brock, but i Know several people who coach at Glacier under Grady and a teacher in Kalispell and they tell me nothing but good things about Osweiler, especially as a person. Is he cocky? I'm sure he is but jesus, why shouldn't he be? He's one of the elite quarterbacks in all of college football and he's well deserved of the all the pub and hype he's getting. I've also heard he is extremely intelligent and an outstanding student.

ANY attempts to link Osweiler to Ryan Leaf's saga is absolutely MORONIC! And I'm saying that as one of the few on here who likes Leaf! But to say Osweiler and Leaf in the same sentence right now is PURE LUNCACY and this thread should have been benched because of it!

Couldn't agree more. Living in the AZ I get exposed to a lot of Brock coverage and I've not seen anything that would give the slightest indication he's anything like Leaf turned out to be. I think he must have stolen Grizzoula's girlfriend or something for that kind of rumor-mongering hatred to ooze from his every pore.

Crap, leave the kid alone, and be proud of a Montana kid being the position he has to make this decision! As for him being cocky, that is part of the territory in having a shot at any pro sport, especially qb. With cockiness, comes confidence, if a QB does not have it, they will NEVER make it at the BCS level, and certainly have no chance in the NFL. Whatever he decides, I hope he never loses that cockiness, until after his playing days are done.

As for Brock, I have had one experience with him, and his family. It was a good impression too. During GRIZ cage camp this tall gangly kid shows up for camp out of the blue. At that time he was in 8th Grade, he was dominating that level, and for competition sake, a few camp coaches, including myself, discussed him playing with older kids, instead. He had nothing to gain playing against kids in his age group. He, and his parents were talked to with Tinkle, Hill, Dumas, etc. Brock was open to the idea, and had no problem with it, his parents were class too, and no complaints about it.

He, and Ben Roberts were the only players I recall being that advanced at that age. Both played with the older players, and were all class in doing so.

Good luck Brock!!!!

  Well, guys, I'm down, so stop piling on. Yes, Brock can & will do whatever he wants w/o any advice from me. No, I've never met him. Maybe it's the media, not him, that has hyped him. All I meant by the Tebow reference is that Tebow was a college star, but has a rough time in the NFL. I'm pleased by Tebow's getting the Broncos into the playoffs & do root for him.

I'm just saying I don't understand why Brock may already be thinking of the NFL, a question raised by this thread, when he certainly hasn't shown the talent Tebow did at FL. I'm NOT saying Brock isn't talented. All I'm saying is, if the OP is correct, Brock should stay where he is. You may disagree, but so be it.

I'm also realizing that you are all of a football culture & I'm not. You're immersed in football far more than sometimes I realize. That's ok. This is a football board. But, for Grady & PR to pile on with comments like I'm "scary," etc., that goes too far. You don't get me & I don't get you. That's the way it is, so we live w/ it. I am a Grizz fan & enjoy most of what's on this board, altho there are many boring & incomprehensible threads & posts, to me, but that's my problem. Peace. :)

Tebow hasn't had a rough time in the NFL. He's had an incredible season. Are you from outer space or what?

Other than some poster mentioning the NFL with a question mark, I've seen no evidence that BO is considering the NFL this year. Jeez, don't knock a kid for what an internet poster actually didn't even say.

If you don't know anything about football or are not from that culture, do yourself and the board a favor and stop posting. I have largely refrained from commenting on your posts in the past, but I must say that you say some the dumbest, and occasionally hurtful, things. Now that people have focused on you and your posts, I think you're going to draw alot more comments. Either be more careful or bow out.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1012491-brock-osweiler-reportedly-will-announce-decision-to-enter-2012-nfl-draft" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Arizona State junior quarterback Brock Osweiler will reportedly declare for the 2012 NFL draft on Friday.

According to Devils Digest, Osweiler will hold a press conference on Friday to announce his decision.

Osweiler, who passed for over 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns to 13 interceptions this season, saw his Sun Devils fall to Kellen Moore's Boise State Broncos in the MAACO Bowl, 56-24, but he passed for 395 yards and two touchdowns in that game.

Osweiler showed a strong arm and impressive pocket presence in his first season as the leader for the Sun Devils in 2011. His athleticism also stands out for a quarterback standing 6'8" and it showed in his mobility. If he does indeed declare, he'll probably be in the range of Michigan State's Kirk Cousins around the third round of the draft.

Osweiler's decision comes after Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones announced on Thursday that he would be returning to the Sooners for his senior season. There's no telling if Jones' decision impacted Osweiler's thinking, but it's certainly possibly considering another quarterback has dropped off draft boards after USC's Matt Barkley decided to stay in school.

You have to wonder if Osweiler would have been better off staying another season, though. He's considered to be a project by several draft experts and he could have benefited with another collegiate year under his belt. Then again, with inside linebacker Vontaze Burfict declaring, maybe Osweiler figured there wasn't a good chance the Sun Devils could improve from their disappointing 6-7 mark this season.

Now he's looking to take his talents to the next level.

Tebow has had an incredible season? Is that why his QB rating is the lowest among all NFL starting QBs? If you got any stupider, we would have to water and fertilize you. :D

Big mistake, if you ask me. He was rated as the 7th best QB coming out NEXT year...there's at least 12 QB's in this year's draft that would be taken before him....

How many qb's had a higher winning percentage than Tebow? How many qb's had more comeback wins? How many had more 4th quarterback wins? How many got more press? The press describes his season as a "magic" season. He is the reason the Broncos are in the playoffs--as they would not have been without him.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Is that why the Sportscenter feature story today was about Denver losing in the first round of the playoffs with Tebow at QB, then Tim fading into oblivion next season? Get a clue before spewing ridiculous B.S.

You apparently haven't been reading the reports re: the standing Tebow has had on the team prior to Orton leaving. You haven't seen reports of what Fox & Elway thought of him before Orton leaving. Tebow could not win the last 3 games of the season. A BIG question re: this playoff game w/ Pittsburgh. Believe me, I want Tebow to succeed. Yes, an incredible season, up to the last 3 games. We shall see.

Oh, Geezus!! The Wrath of the Lord will come down on me!!  I don't GAF what you or anyone else on this board thinks of me. "Hurtful"? OMG! How sensitive we are. All i can think of as the reason for your vitriol is you're waging on me what most of this board thinks of you. Maybe I don't know football as well as you think you do, but that doesn't mean I can't post. This is a free country, last I heard.

Wish Brock the best. The situation at ASU is a mess...no prob with him going early. I do think he would benefit at finding a good fit for one more year in a college situation though. I don't know much about who is slated to start at Boise after Moore is gone but I think he would be a great fit there slinging it for Chris Peterson as was mentioned earlier.

I saw him overrule the play call for a punt on 4th and long and then threw an incomplete pass, turning the ball over to Boise State for another score. Later on he missed a timeout call from the coaches and threw an interception in the end zone. The kid is all hat and no cattle, at least he was against Boise State. On the upside, my wife thought he looked like Elvis.

Official now, Osweiler is headed to the NFL draft.

Listed by some as the 6th or 7th best draft prospect when pulling up draft scout reports. I suppose that would put him... 3rd or 4th round?

You've got Luck and RG3, then Weeden, Tannehill, Moore, Cousins, and Osweiler in that 2nd/3rd/4th round hunt.

If you consider that Oklahoma's Jones and USC's Barkley are not going to the draft that bumps Brock from being a late-draft pick to an early/mid pick... makes sense from a business standpoint.

Don't you loose a year of eligibility when you transfer?

Not if you graduate and a pursuing a graduate degree.

It's a new rule (6 years or so) that the NCAA put in. If you graduate and have a year of eligibility, you can transfer to another school and enroll in a graduate program...as long as...your school does not offer that graduate degree. 2 recent examples is Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson. He played at NC State last year. Also Dayne Crist is leaving Notre Dame and going to Kansas to reunite with Charlie Weiss. He will be eligible right away due to this rule.

Oregon's Masoli was the example that came to my mind. It was a pretty high-profile one.
