Brekke changes commitment to Montana State

MSU got two players in Brekke and McQueary that I wish we could have landed. I do find it interesting though that they are being recruited at RB and QB respectively, which aren't the positions where they have the most potential to make an impact from what it looks like.
read the article, Brekke is being recruited as an "Athlete"

Ignore Wolfman Jack. Everyone here knows he's a first-class a-hole. We don't claim him as a Griz fan. Since you need extra fans to fill up your stadium you can have him. And best of luck to Gunnar, it's too bad he's going to spend his career in bozo playing second fiddle to the Griz.

Did you read the article? Brekke states Montana recruited him as an athlete. He states that at Bozeman State he will start as a running back. Reading comprehension apparently not a strong point of yours.

Brekke said he doesn’t have significant family ties to either school, and he was careful not to let anybody make his decision for him. He talked to players on both sides -- including former Capital teammate Caleb Kidder at UM and Bruin alums Brad Daly and Brian Bignell at MSU -- and said he couldn’t pinpoint anything that changed his mind. Talking to the current Bobcats likely did sway him towards wearing the blue-and-gold, though, he added.

“I wish I could have gone about it a different way -- so I didn’t have to give coach Delaney that phone call -- but it’s done and I’m glad it’s over with,” Brekke said. “Again, it had nothing to do with what’s going on with the Griz -- they’re both great programs and both teams are going to be very successful.”

“Coach Ash is one of the main reasons I chose to go to MSU, but both he and Delaney are two of the best guys I’ve ever met,” Brekke said. “It was hard to tell them no, but I had to do it at some point.”

===========================================================================================

1) Brad Daly and Brian Bignell have a brighter future in recruiting than Caleb Kidder. :thumb:
2) Yes, both programs have bright futures.
3) Yes, both coaches are great guys,

Brekke was classy and complimentary of UM in his decision, even said he wished he could have went about it in a different way.

“When I go down there I’m going to start playing running back,” Brekke said. “They asked me where I wanted to play and that’s what I told them. But, like I said, they just recruited me as an athlete.

Sounds like that is his first choice, so that is where they will start working with him at, but it also sounds like it is not set in stone and that he is open to other positions if it is what works best for all.

Sounds like he's as confused about what he'll play as he was about where he'll play.
