On the other hand it gives schools 2 more games per year to schedule (this year's bracket buster plus the makeup game form last year's bracket buster). Plus you were getting mid-major teams in bracket buster, and with the Big Sky RPI this meant you were basically getting other Big-Sky level teams. I don't remember getting too excited about the teams Bracket Buster brought in here.UofMGrizFan said:This.WILDCATFAN said:There also goes a lot of Big Sky chances at getting some decent teams at home

Now schools can take those 2 games, make one a guarantee game, and use that guarantee money to lure in a decent mid-major or better. If schools want to and use the budget right they can come out ahead on the schedule.

I dont know, I thought it was pretty awesome last year when Weber played Texas Arlington on National TV. Weber has a hard enough time getting home games, this was a good way of getting a guaranteed home game, Weber cant ever get WCC, WAC, or Mtn West Teams to come to the Dee, as a matter of fact the only team that comes to the Dee in those 3 conferences is USU. So it was really cool when a pretty good Texas Arlington came to the Dee in a Nationally televised game.
The question is since this year is the last year they are doing the bracketbusters, are the teams still obligated to return the game in the next few years???

The TV part is pretty cool, but those were few and far between for the BSC. UTA was pretty decent last year, but not a marque team really. My personal bias, but I am surprised a Weber fan is excited about playing UTA. I happened to be in Arlington in 1996 and staying at the same hotel as the Griz BB team. As they were loading on the bus I asked where they were playing (dumb me thinking UT!) and they told me where the game was at so I was able to catch the game. I was living in Washington State at the time, and had caught the Griz playing @ UW before a good crowd, and been back to Missoula to watch a couple games, so I was excited when I got a chance to watch the Griz on the road.
At the game there was me, about a dozen other Griz fans, a couple UTA players girlfriends and parents, and some people who happened to wander into the gym. Couldn't have been more than 100 people total. Their gym was like a middle school gym, maybe 15 rows of bleachers on each side of the court, and I got a whole row of bleacher to myself. It was embarrassing, and I kept thinking what has happened to the Griz BB program that they play here. Later that night when I got back to the hotel I rode up the elevator with some of the Purdue BB team (they were playing Texas) and it became clear why UM was playing UTA and not UT.
BTW, you could get good teams to come to the Dee with guarantee money. I know people in this conference hate to hear that, but that is all it takes, a little cash. And Yes I believe teams do have to make return trips next year.
