Botner is what being a student athlete should be

Way to go young man!!! This is what college football SHOULD be unfortunately the term student athlete is dead and it’s all about the money for most
It's actually the other way around. Of the thousands playing intercollegiate athletics across all the levels in various sports only a relative handful are in your category. Unfortunately that group gets most of the big media attention. And while I'm disillusioned with the direction of Big Boy athletics the positives that countless student athletes like Botner have gleaned from it still have value to society from my point of view.

Agree has tons of value and when I say dead I am talking about fbs football only

Dillon is just living proof that the student-athletes @ UM--at least the overwhelming majority that do no enter the transfer portal--are indeed student-athletes. He's not alone--think of all our kids that are recent graduates that have earned an MBA from the excellent UM College of Business during their five year academic and athletic career @ UM: Welnel, Gradney, Gubner, Fleck, Janacaro, etc.

Kudos to not only Dillon and Hunter Peck, but to Coach Hauck, Green and the entire staff for emphasing academics when recruiting student athletes and indeed graduating their kids: the last time I heard our overall team GPA, it was sitting @ 3.2 and while there is room for improvement, that team measure is outstanding : ) !!!

I am all for student athletes and 100% support them. But to win nattys in today’s college football landscape requires at least a few non student athletes, AKA - guys just there to play football. I don’t like it, just the way it is.

Achieving at the level Dillon has is without a doubt too high of a bar for your average student athlete.

Set a good example for the kids in the community that look up to you.

Show up and work hard for your team and your teammates.

Get your degree.

That should be the expectation.
