Borg pulls out of exhibition

Multi-time Wimbledon champ Bjorn Borg, he of the wooden tennis racket, was all set to play in his first grass court match since his 1981 Wimbledon final against John McEnroe, when he got bit by a dog that got into a fight with HIS dog at his house. He had to pull out, but will likely still attend. Richard Krajicek will take his place.

Any chance that this will get misconstrued in the press to make Borg = Vick?

No Way. Borg is one of the greatest ever. Some of the matches he played against Connors and McEnroe and classic. He nearly sold his Wimbledon trophies until McEnroe talked some sense into him. Tennis will never be like it was in those days when there were a few guys who could win, not just a dominant player like Fedderer is today.

I wholeheartedly agree, GB. I think it was Borg-McEnroe, Connors-McEnroe, and Evert-Navratilova that saved tennis back then. We need some of that. Nadal-Federer just doesn't do it.

I was just wondering if some numbskull looking for a scandal that wasn't there would try to pull something on this.

Don't forget Mats Wilander, Boris Becker, and Illie Nastase, Vitas Gueralitis, and Guillermo Vilas on the Men's side. I loved watching Evert play, she had some great battles with Martina. It is hard to believe Borg won less than $4,000,000 winning as many titles as he did.
