Booker

I meant to bring this up when we played Southeastern Missouri because that is where Booker is at now, but noticed he's not on the roster and didn't play. Does anyone know his status there? Also, if he had stayed here what do you think his impact would have been with thte Griz? Is he better than the guards we have now?

He isn't eligible until the 2005-2006 season. I'm not sure if that's due to him transferring to another Division 1 program or if its due to him transferring pretty late & deciding it'd be better to redshirt a year and practice with the team. Anyway, it looks like he's redshirting this year and can practice with the team, but cant play in the games yet.

Towards the end of the season last year Booker was really one of the sparks that caused the Griz team to turn their season around and make the Big Sky Conference tournament. The Griz's record when they started Booker & played with a 3 guard lineup was 5-2. In those last 7 games of the year Booker averaged 12.86pts, 4.86reb, 1.3assists & 27.3min a game. That included a double/double against Idaho State (13 points, 10 rebounds), and another near double double against NAU (10 points, 9 rebounds), as well as a 17 point performance against ISU in the tournament (Leading scorer that game). In those 7 games he scored over 10 points in all of them.

I'm not sure if he would've played some point this year, since Martin is doing well so far, and now Virgil Matthews is playing some point (And doing very well in my opinion). He would've been a big contributor though and was one of the most athletic players the Griz have had in a long time. Of course, if Booker had stayed, we probably wouldn't have picked up Matthews. I'm sure Booker is happy with going back home to Missouri though. I do hope the Griz play SEMO again next year in Missoula so we can see how he's doing. I bet he'll be one of the leading scorers for SEMO next year.
