This looks like it could be what my teenage son has had twice. He had an unusual internal knee bruise, in an odd place. It was the result of what was essentially a bad hyper-extension. My son's knees naturally hyper-extend, i.e. the joint actually positions a bit backwards when fully extended and locked back. As a result, the bruise occurred internally toward the front of the knee (I think), and in a place where normally the ACL will tear before the bruise occurs. The initial on-field and early diagnosis is often an ACL tear. However, x-rays and MRI show that the ACL is fine and where the bruise is.
Neither injury looked like a bad or horrible injury when it occurred. The first time, he didn't even go down, after getting bumped on the run, and was able to play on through the pain for a bit. The second time, there was also a small hairline fracture. In the first, he was able to start practicing in less than a week and played a game within 8 days. It was healing fast, getting better every few days. The second time took longer, I think about 3.5 weeks. That time, he practiced once in about 10 days, but he couldn't cut, was limping and it became clear that he needed to stay off of it.
I wonder if Bolomboy has a knee that naturally over-extends.
