Bobcats say they control BSC destiny

Bozeman Chronicle today says:

With Northern Arizona's win over Idaho State Saturday night, if the Bobcats defeat Portland State next Saturday in Portland and conference front-runner Montana at home Nov. 22, all three teams would finish with a 5-2 BSC record. MSU would win the conference by virtue of defeating both NAU and the Grizzlies.

The same news article says MSU receiver Turnquist has a badly separated shoulder. We hate to see injuries like that. The Griz have had bad luck with injuries this year and last.

Go Griz!

It's like playing the Powerball Lottery. If I could have just picked another 3 numbers correctly.................

The injury to Turnquist is true, (unfortunate for the kid who's a senior and was giving it a 110%). He made a great catch in the end zone, but the official ruled him out, not a popular call with the Cat fans who felt he was pushed out. He hit the turf pretty hard and was helped off the field by the trainers. I didn't notice until midway through the 3rd quarter that he was roaming the sidelines in sweats with his arm in a sling. The Smith kid who returned the 2 punts for TD's last week made a couple of nice catches in Turnquists abscence.

Too bad about Turnquist...he was pushed out but the "pushout" rule is an NFL one only. Still need 1 foot in college...Now its 2 weeks of payback for our kids. :)

I didn't know that the pushout rule only applied in the NFL. Is that true?

The Cats got a couple of gift calls too. The pass that was ruled a catch and then fumble was a joke. Isn't your butt being on the carpet considered "down"? A couple of the PI calls were pretty questionable too, although EWU got a couple also.

Too bad about Turnquist. Wasn't he a senior from Billings?

EWU is going to be tough I think. A lot tougher than the "social fan" may think. Let's be realistic though. Eastern has a HUGE target painted on them. They're in Missoula and it's going to be payback time for a lot of Grizzlies who left Washington with a bad taste of defeat in their mouths from last year.

Montana's D is playing huge. Their O is playing huge. Yesterdays game was a slimey swamp. I honestly think the weather took away at least two TDs from the Griz. Yeah, it may have cost the Hornets on or two as well, but the fact of the matter is the Griz are starting to peak all around.

Montana's crowd is going to put a hurting on the Eagle's offensive calls on the field. All the fans remember last year as well. I foresee a long day on the field for the Eagles.

Griz 49 Eagles 14

Yes, grizpack, the "pushout" rule is only in the NFL. The Griz had a receiver a few years ago who was coming down in the endzone with a catch who was knocked out-of-bounds by a DB. He was a good three or four feet in but it was, correctly, ruled a no catch. That was when I (and a lot of others) became aware of the rule.

There is a grain of truth to what Haas suggests, which makes me wonder where he plagerized it. All MSU has to do is beat a hapless PSU team and beat Montana in Bozeman.
Likewise, all the Griz have to do is win out, it's really the same scenario. We could lose to EWU, but we can't lose to the Bobcats, the same was/is true for MSU.
Eastern will be tough to beat. If Montana State's secondary played zone like ours surely will, Erik Meyer would have had a career day against them. I'm betting though, that Meyer is less than healthy after that shoulder injury at the end of the MSU game. If we pressure Meyer, while keeping kimble from running around the corner - which we didn't do last year - the Griz will win a close one.
You should have heard the EWU fans yelling "bring on Montana" after the game. Not a chant, like last year's "overrated" mantra, but very cocky in your face stuff that continued long after the game. We were in a bar three hours after the game when Eagle fans came in telling us the Griz were going down and the Montana schools sucked.

Can I be the first to say....I HATE EWU......stupid little hick school in a wheat field.

If you can't get into college, go to EWU.

1) Eric Meyer(EWU QB) will have some repair work on his shoulder after the season is over. He injured it five weeks ago and just plays with it. The MSU game did nothing more to the existing injury. I was in the middle of things before, during and after the game. I heard nothing about "bring on Montana". If there was any chanting, it was probably some undercover Griz agents wanting to stir things up for use on eGriz. If anyone ran into a couple of the EWU fans at a bar, there were like 27 at the game, saying how the Montana schools suck(or whatever), it was probably some undercover Griz agents wanting to stir things up for use on eGriz.

The word I get is that Turnquist's season is over--separated shoulder. And while he is their best receiver it is a position that they are deep in--their return guy, Corey Smith--filled in for Turnquist and they don't really lose a lot with him. They give up some height, and get some speed and running ability in return.

Nice first post Obzerver - Must be an undercover EWU fan trying to stir things up on eGriz. Or maybe an undercover MSU fan trying to stir things up on eGriz.

No, I'm pretty sure they were punky EWU fans euphoric about clinching another half-assed season. We heard the Montana slurs from obviously drunk Eastern fans our our way out of the game and then three hours afterward at the bar - again idoits euphoric about clinching another "winning season."
You shouldn't sell your eagles short. There were almost 8,000 people at the game, only about half bobcat fans. If you were in the middle of everything, observer, then maybe you were the one spouting off.
Rest assured, the Griz don't need any motivation from egriz to take on EWU.

Dang...caught red handed. Actually, I,m an agent of the Hen flock trying to stir things up and griz4life bit. I'm also pretty sure 27 drunk EWU fans couldn't get under the thick hide of any Griz fans. Go Hens!

Eastern fans can kiss my ass. First off, what a pathetic crowd. Their announcer had to repeatedly remind them when it was third down: "It's thiiiiiirrrrd down for the Bobcats... thiiiiiirrrrd down... hey, guys, make some noise... wake up, for the love of god!" As I know you are used to, our fans made way more noise than theirs did.

Now for the worst part. After Scott Turnquist separated his shoulder and was down on the sideline, a couple of jackass Eastern frat boys came over and were actually taunting him, calling him a pussy, etc. Then they started yelling things at Scott's father. My buddies and I were on our way over, but some other fan beat us to them and kicked the crap out of them before they were escorted out of the MSU side. What a joke. All I have to say is, they are lucky that other guy beat us to them, after too many beers I would be afraid to think what we might have done to them! :flipoff:

Instant Karma.
Cool!

Sounds like EWU and ISU are running neck and neck for the classless bowl for all teams out of the race, but happy to finish with a winning season.

OOOO..an agent from MSU trying to stir things up on eGriz. Griz fans are probably getting a kick out of it. If indeed some fans were taunting the injured player, there's no excuse for that. That is cheap...about as cheap as #7(hackett) missing that roundhouse right aimed at the QB's head. Course that's not the only thing he missed(his coverage assignments come to mind). Now that your safely home you can stop frothing at the mouth(from licking your Catnuts)loser.
