Just saw former Grizzly Offensive Coordinator and head coach finalist, Bob Cole, is the offensive coordinator at Northern Illinois. He got a shout out in Heisman Finalist candidate Jordan Lynch's tweet in the following article:

Here is Cole's coaching bio:

Two things I remember about Cole - he was a chain smoking fool and he loved to throw the ball. His offense was extremely high octane and very fun to watch! I realize he has probably moved past this level, but I would love to see him get a shot at head coach when Mick is done. He has quite the offensive resume.

What I remember about his offenses is that his formations would not tip of the defense. He would pass out of double tight end with an H back.

I have followed Bob Cole's sometimes odd career path since he was a Griz. Everywhere the man goes the offense jumps off the charts. Griz fans always remember the passing yards the Griz put up with Cole as OC and Miller as QB, but it's the running game that dramatically improves when Cole comes to town. He wanted to be Griz head coach in 2003, but he wanted to coordinate the offense, too. Hogan like that idea.

If Drew Miller was my QB I would throw a lot too. Best pure passer I've seen at this level.

His offense was pretty bad his last year at Wyoming. Then again, Joe brought him in as a last ditch to save his own job.. oi. He had good weapons at Wyoming that year too.

I am not sure he was a chain smoker go96griz. I think he was a cigarette that was constantly lit.

He is exactly the kind of coach we should be looking for to succeed Mick. Best offensive coordinator we've had.

I would love to have hime back at USU. Too bad we can't swap OCs with NIU for our bowl game with them. McGiven seem to know only about three plays to run.

That is one more than we run.

agreed

...which goes to show how Glenn's selection of Ron Richards as offensive coordinator in 2000 was one of the more curious decisions he made.

Richards could barely tie his shoes. Unbelievable and Inam still scratching my head on that one.

Hiring friends for anything is generally a bad idea, same with loaning them money, just give it to them cause you are not going to get it back
