Bob Channeling His Inner Bobby

Bob wins a game with running the ball with a 4th string QB/2nd string H WR, tough ass defense, special teams, and field position!!!

Could Stitt have been thinking "they want Bobby Ball, I'll show them Bobby Ball!"

Flashback: Bobby surprises everyone with an option attack, due to QB injuries, with an unproven tiny Freshman, Sampson to beat Idaho. Bobby referenced as a genius for that game plan.

Fast Forward to 11/4/17: GRIZ fans have been bitching, complaining, moaning, groaning, and wanting Bob let go. GRIZ fans wanting, but not expecting a great defense and special teams play. Bob unexpectedly gives GRIZ NATION a dose of Bobby Ball, yet GRIZ NATION is still bitching, moaning, groaning, and being outright ungrateful. Bob did what he had to do for his team to GUT out a win with heart, passion, guts, and determination!!! Yet, it still is not enough for some. #givethemcredit, #themancantwinwithourfans, #iloveegriz.

Seriously, great W boys. That W sure brings back memories of many ugly W's. Some of us have actually missed those kind of W's. I am so proud of our coaches, players, and team. Give us reason to be proud of our fans. :thumb: Speaking of which, way to be loud and proud, GRIZ NATION, I loved that too!!!!

The detractors don’t want Bobby ball, they want the 95 and 96 teams that had awesome defenses and would score a ton of points. Most of them don’t remember all the super close ugly games that Dan Carpenter bailed Bobby out of with his leg.

Spot on

The only totally dominate Griz teams I remember were in 95 & 96 when Dave and the O would score 40 points before halftime. Most of the other successful seasons had several moments of total football bounce luck or last second heroics. Remember the "turf sharks"?

I love wide open offensive games...however game like last night was a thing of beauty.
The play on both sides was exceptional. Crowd was great.
Both coaches were on edge, both wanted this win bad. Both teams wanted it bad.
This year’s seniors are a hungry group, good for them.

The 95 team lost to Washington State and Idaho, if I remember correctly they went into the playoffs as a 7 seed. I believe the 96 team was better but what you going to do with Randy Moss?
Marshall could have had him run a deep post for every single play and would have still won.

It’s odd how some people acquaint winning close ugly games with dominance and intimidation.

2000 was a pretty dominant team...only loss was to Hawaii...don't really remember all the scores though and I'm too lazy to look them up right now lol

2000 finished 13-2. Only regular season loss was the season home opener to Hofstra, by a score of 10-9. The Griz proceeded to win the next 13 games, until they met Georgia Southern in the national title game, and lost a close one 27-25.

You're correct, I meant the 01 team...sorry. Was thinking the NC game was played after Jan. 1 but it wasn't back then

The Griz could have been told the exact route Moss was going to run before the snap and it still wouldn't matter. I remember one play where we had 3 guys covering him, he still went above them all and caught it, then he just brushed them off and waltzed into the end zone.

Don't apologize. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong. I was just curious about that season.

I certainly remember the one against Wofford that he didn’t. 😩
Great win yesterday Griz!
Gutsy, gritty, yes, ugly, yes, still counts the same and looks the same in the W/L column!
Go Griz!

Bobby would not have used a TE like Bob does. To be known as a offensive “genius” you must be bold, what appear to be poor QB rating happens to be world record TE stats.

Hey, everyone’s been saying for years that he needs to use his TEs more.

Seems he finally listened.
