Blaine Taylor

Mousegriz

Well-known member
In town tonight as guest speaker at the KPAX Sports Banquet. Should provide some entertainment, but hopefully also some life lessons for the HS kids that will attend and be awarded scholarships for academic and athletic achievement.

Blaine is a Missoula born and raised basketball icon. One of the best Montana high schoolers ever, steady and productive Griz point guard, coached his way from Loyola to the Griz, to Stanford and finally Old Dominion.

Nice. He's a good dude.

I agree - I remember.
The Red Hellgate Jersey #14
The long hair.
The Puka shell necklace.
The fiery competitor.

Extraordinary

....a little Missoula tidbit of history on Blaine, and current and long-standing tennis coach Chris Nord...
Both the same age, same year class (1976) out of high School...

As 6th GRADERS....., both made their respective 7-8th grade basketball teams at Hawthorne, and Lewis & Clark Grade Schools... Lewis and Clark's 72 and 73 classes went undefeated.

He is a great guy and has paid his dues for a lot of bad choices. I cant help but think he still wants another shot at coaching. Regardless what you say about other matters involving Blaine, you cant question his ability, record and growth as a coach

I was a young BB official in those years, working out of the Missoula officiating pool, and remember reffing a couple of games when Taylor was an 8th grader. He was so far ahead of the other kids that is was almost unfair.
