ODU leads Hofstra 12-11 with 11:31 to go in the first period. Playing to get into the NIT Semifinals. Good to see Blaine doing well.

Blaine's in the Final Four. 61-51 winner. Now Louisville (with another Montana coach, Rick Pitino) is beating Missouri State 30-26 with a minute to go in the first half. Could be two Montana-coached teams in the Final Four!

Rick Petino is not from montana nor did he ever coach in montana! The louisville football coach Bobby Petrino is from Helena, MT and played for his father Bob Petrino at Carroll College.

Go Griz and Go Cards!!!!

There were 2 coaches with Montana connections though, both on the same team. ODU Coach Blaine Taylor and former Griz point guard Travis Decuire who is now an assistant at ODU. Decuire still holds the all time assist record for UM.

That was one physical game in the last 10 minutes, bodies all over the floor almost every trip down the floor. Hofstra had a 21 game home court win streak until ODU won tonight.

I hope ODU beats Michigan.

Why did Blaine Taylor leave UM for ODU? ODU is not a higher profile school than UM is it? I don't really think so anyway.

I'm not sure my memory is correct, but I think Blaine went to Stanford on Monty's staff for awhile and THEN on to ODU.

After the U of M, Taylor went to Stanford to be an assistant coach under Mike Montgomery. Even though Taylor won 141 games in 7 years, he was not appreciated by the Griz faithful and left rather unceremoniously after the 97-98 season. It reminded me then, and still does, of how the Cats got rid of Sonny Lubick. Lubick, to this day, continues to be a very successful coach at Colorado State and the Bobcat football program has suffered since then. Getting rid of Lubick was a Cat loss. Blaine wasn’t perfect but, he was a good guy and a very good coach. Taylor's leaving the U of M was a Griz loss.

The void of that loss, has been filled. Coach K is building something none of the coaches of the past were able to do. It sure will be fun watching him do it.

Oops. And I wasn't even inebriated when I wrote that. Thanks for the correction.

I will have to root against Blaine & ODU since they are playing my Wolverines who the other day took out the hated Irish, take that Swilly. Even so winning the NIT won't be much of a consolation for their collapse down the stretch.
