North Dakota State turned in a solid performance against Tusculum tonight in the Fargodome. The Bison won by a score of 28-7. I had always thought that the defense may be the weakest area for the Bison, but our defense was very very solid tonight. I was surprised to see the offense not put more points on the board. It looks to be a game between to solid teams next week in Missoula!

Gotta love your moxey,...but NDSU WILL get POUNDED by the Griz......

Not even close......

go McNeese!!!!!!!go Griz!!!!!

I have to agree with you sharkeycox these NDSU people really do have some balls. I wish to they would have put them in the BSC because they seem to be a scrapy little bunch and someday when they grow up they might be darn good. I look at this game kinda as like playing your little bro in the back yard. Of course, your gonna kick his ass cause you are bigger and stronger and just plain better but you have to give the sh*t credit for trying. And that is how I feel about this NDSU game the Griz are bigger and stronger and a better program but if you sit down and look at it you have to give these little sh*ts from NDSU some credit for trying and having the ballZ to come on this board and talk like they have a chance.
Hell, I even hope the game stays competive for awhile even though I'm sure it won't. But I would like to tell all the NDSU fans no matter how the game turns out I have respect for them because they will fight you over their team even when all common sense says that NDSU has zero chance of winning. That to me shows that they are good fans and will have a good 1-AA program in the future.

I have to agree with that. I love these NDSU fans, they are like a young Griz program, scrappy as hell and going around telling everyone how tough they are and how tough they'll be. You gotta love it.

They would be a great addition to the Sky. They fill their stadium, they love football over all other sports, and their fans travel well and are all over everyones message boards just like Griz fans are. They're fanatics just like us.

The only part of that statement I take offense with is the ND part. It's NDSU. Don't confuse us with those idiots 70 miles to the north.

You have idiots to the North. Ours are to the South East!

Go Griz!!!

Hey, we might not win the game but our idiots whine more, drool more, puke more, and claim to like hockey better than football. They dress like Neidermeier from Animal House and their town smells like old cheese marinated in dumpster juice.

When a Montana State guy tries to think, a little light bulb turns on next to his head. When a University of North Dakota guy tries to think, an engine light from a 1981 Chevette flickers briefly and then shorts out.

Oh I don't, I meant nodaks in general. :D

Great topic.. NDSU has great tradition and a great fan base.

My dad, brother and wife all went to NDSU and I had to laugh at the analogy of playing your little brother in the backyard... That is perfect!

I hope someday they do become part of the Big Sky conf. because they would be a great opponent. (thundering herd.... marsh.. ooh.. that would be good.)

Needless to say, I am the only graduate in our family of UM and my wife and I haven't missed a griz game in over 10 years. (needless to say, I converted her to grizlyanity... she hardly remembers NDSU now.. )

My Dad has never experienced Wash/Griz Stadium and this Saturday will be his first.

I CAN'T WAIT....

I am a student at NDSU but a Montana citizen. (went to NDSU because UofM did not offer my degree). Anyways. NDSU will get whipped next week. There are some things in life that are near certain and this is one of them. Dont get me wrong, I root for NDSU..... but not when the are playing da GRIZ!!!! These guys here are gutsy and are fine fans, but they have no idea what is in store for them. Guess the awakening will be a rude one. I only wish they were playing in UM in November :-) These Domos would be frozen bison burgers. Cant wait till next year when the griz come here and show the fine fans of NDSU how football is played. GO GRIZ

Griz - 45 NDSU - 13

Tusculum?...Sounds like one of those fine old antebellum mansions as in Gone With The Wind. I suppose Tara is next up on the Bison schedule after the Griz? Where does an AD find competition like that, the Yellow Pages?

Not to overstate the obvious here, but your Dad is in for the treat of a lifetime. I think I can safely say that someone's first gameday experience at Washington/Grizzly Stadium is an event that they will NEVER forget. I'm sure your family will have a great time, and I'm glad you can all be together to enjoy it.

How does NDSU rack up against a team like Northern Colorado?--They (Northern Colorado) played a great game last year against us and will do good in the I-AA. Is your team really ready to greet the elite?

Last year's 2-8 NDSU team didn't stack up very well against UNC. Here's the scores since 1996 (UNC won the D2 championships in 1996 and 1997- I wonder who their coach was? :D )

1996 UNC- 38 NDSU- 36
1997 UNC- 24 NDSU- 28
1998 UNC- 29 NDSU- 19
1999 UNC- 41 NDSU- 39
2000 UNC- 14 NDSU- 38
2001 UNC- 17 NDSU- 13
2002 UNC- 29 NDSU- 7

The 2000 season was bad for UNC, as they went 4-7. NDSU was stacked with talent that year, as they had five players drafted or sign free agent contracts in the NFL. The 2000 team made it to the semifinals, but lost imo to bad coaching.

Anyhow, NDSU has a new coaching staff, new offensive and defensive schemes, and will bring a well-disciplined team that will be ready to play. Whether or not that will be enough is another story........

Oh, one more thing. Even though I have lived here since I was about 8 or 9 my birth certificate says born in Cass county, guess what town :D ?

What's a Tusculum and can you take any pleasure in beating it in football?

Tusculum plays a Southern Conference team next week, Elon. Elon lost 24-7 to Furman Saturday. Tusculum was very confident coming into Fargo. Thought they had an easy win because of the Bison 2-8 record last year. New Coach, New Game Plan, See you later Tusculum.

Franki DeBusk the Tusculum head coach said "NDSU is a lot better football team than I expected them to be.  They were solid from top to bottom.  It looked like they had played three or four games together instead of this being the season opener.  that was a well-coached, disciplined, solid football team."

The QB matchup might be good. It's interesting to note that Tony Stauss was 22 of 30 and  had 174 yds passing and 1 TD with no ints.  Jeff Disney was 17 of 30 for 152 yds and 1 TD.  He also ran for a TD and played against a top 25 DI-AA team, not a top D2 team.

Every BISON fan in the country is praying for rain, wind, sleet and snow.

An NDSU victory would be a big upset. This years BISON team is as good as the UNC team that came to the Fabulous Fargo Dome last season. Adding some capable transfers to an already young, talented and maturing squad has really changed the character of the team.

I think the coaching change was good for the BISON. The team is more focused and better prepaired. The offense is a lot better. The game plan was great. we didnt show our deep threat. we didnt need too. But, our short to mid passing attack looked good. Rod Malone looked real good behind what may be gelling into a great offensive line. they looked good.

Playing University of Montana is a great opportunity for NDSU. I'm looking for a spirited contest from both sides. I hope it doesnt get out of hand. Montana has a very good football team. The better team will win, even if it is an upset say 14- 13 BISON.
