Was absolutely abused all game.

Gave up the Hendu TD, got beat by Roberts, and committed two huge PI calls.

Was this the freshman that had to start in place of the other injured CB?

Looks like Stitt had a game plan to attack this kid, and it worked. :thumb:

Don't know what he was thinking when he let Henderson run right past him on that play. Also, the safety in perfect position got sucked up by the play-action run fake and took himself out of the play. Brady has a nice little hand fake on play-after hand offs. Smooth, deceptive and effective.

No this was the other senior CB. Champion. He lost his aggressiveness & never recovered

#21 Allison was the freshman starting for all conference CJ smith he played really dam good

I'm thinkin' Stitt picked up early on the shortcomings of the Bison secondary. The move from his patented short game to a vertical passing one became pretty evident.

You guys aren't giving your wide receivers nearly enough credit. Text book defense by Jordan on nearly every big throw. Your wide receivers were just plain bigger and more athletic. There are far more defensive backs than Jordan Champion who are going to look bad this year.

#3 got his fair share of abuse as well. It was the topic de jour in the NEZ. And I'm guessing that Stitt definitely targeted the cb's given they are both sophmores.

Good post, 11. I thought overall NDSU's secondary was in great position on the majority of those plays. Sometimes you just gotta tip your cap to the QB and wideouts.

I agree. Our 2 starting outside receivers aren't that tall, but they are very athletic, can jump, fast and are very good. The one back-up is 6'4" and very athletic with nice jumping ability (the one who made the great TD catch). One of the starting inside receivers is tall too, 6'4", I think (the one who caught the first pass of the game, and the later huge 4th 10 downfield in the middle on the last drive). And is back up is 6'2" or 6'3' (the kid who made the early long catch to the 5. After a few early drops, maybe only 2, UM's receivers caught the ball very well. They were often defended well, as you said. I agree with your last line.

I agree. I did not think he played that terrible. Henderson is a load and the safety bit on the play-action and Champion was not fast enough to catch #7. He had Great coverage on Jones it was a very good throw to the inside by Gus and he made an unbelievable catch to get his toe down. Great coverage again on the Roberts catch, it was just an amazing catch by a athletic, bigger receiver. The PI calls were not smart by him but it will happen to everyone, especially in the first game against that crew.

How do you defend that catch Jones made on the sideline? 99.9% of his body was already out of bounds when he caught the ball. How he got a foot down is beyond me. Simply amazing body control.

Same with Roberts' TD grab. 5'9" against a 6'4" dude with hops? Fuggeda bout it.

And like Gus said at the presser, these guys are just ballers. :thumb:
