I admit, I too am concerned about our WR injuries. The again, I am looking forward to it. Who emerges with new opportunities?

The WR and OL concerns will really tell us about our coaching staff. Considering the circumstances at hand, I am hoping our coaches will emphasize getting rid of the ball quicker, and to players in space. That will reduce the pressure on an inexperienced OL. If we see the offense rely as heavily on slow developing longer passes, like last season, then I will really be questioning this coaching staff.

It will be interesting to see what the staff puts into place with these circumstances. One advantage to these circumstance, it is harder for opponents to prepare for the GRIZ the 1st few games. With a healthy OL, and healthy Henderson, preparation is a lot more predictable. Let's hope the staff takes advantage of the unknowns and put together a solid game plan against Wyoming.

i like the fact that we now have lighter more mobile o-lineman. for years defensive ends and linebackers have been improving their game by becoming faster and stronger and weigh in 20-30 lbs lighter than 310+ offensive lineman, which we have seen in recent years our QB's scrambling more and more each year.

case in point is charles burton could not match the speed and strength he was up against most of the time and was mostly playing catch up and we lost selle's as he got blind sided as a result.
not blaming charles as shi_ happens, but i am making it present to make a point....

another case in point is Montana losing to richmond in the chipper 24-7....here is a line from that game:

Bergquist was sacked seven times in the game, with Lawrence Sidbury responsible for four of them.

the days of huge offensive lineman are fading fast, the profile is changing, to keep up with the mobility, strength and speed of their opponents on the other side of the ball. imo

Don't tell that to the two best programs in the FCS.

EW average weight of their current roster of 8 O lineman not counting TE (which would drop this average) is 290.
Which two best programs are you referring to?

I agree with rimrockgriz athleticism is quickly becoming #1 as we move forward, not looking backwards.........poorgriz is right looking back does not prove my opinion with much evidence, however, it does point out that bergquist and selle got hammered playing their position with huge lineman with not much protection.

here is a good example of the future of o linemen..........mobility with speed and strength..........this guy looks like he could keep up with what you throw at him.......

and my point is this......this is what o linemen are up against

Things that stuck out in my mind about the scrimmage were that there were very few wide open receivers. JJ made a couple great throws that barely got through defenders. Jansen's catch was an example. I was pleasantly surprised with the coverage.

Logwood impressive straight ahead power and speed.

Also I was surprised that Marc Rogers couldn't run down Strahm on the interception return.

I like Sullivan's trajectory on his kicks. He gets it up with length (that's what she said). Lider's is always a low line drive and the farther out the more it hooks. When he tries not to hook it, he pushes it.

The defense was dominant. Not sure if it was the defense or poor offense (lacking starting WR and questionable o-line play. Based on the two scrimmages I saw not sure at all how the offense will perform at Wyoming.

Yes, the Strahm run after his pick was quite impressive. Agreed on Lider's line drive kicks. All but the short one went went thru the uprights, tho. My pick for kicker at this point is Greenberg.
